EP Review : Verseless - Home EP.

Came to know about Verseless last year when I bumped onto his track Simba ft Aura The Poet. For some time I  labelled him as a house producer and then he corrected me. Verseless is more than just House music, he is quite versatile. His sound is experimental to say the least, its an acquired taste. If you tired and fed up with conventional music he is the guy to listen to and also the Monkey Nuts. Verseless's music sounds amazing but I always find it difficult to pin a single genre for quite a number of his tracks, the guy does not want to be labelled and given limits...he is a free spirit. 

So when I heard he got a new project I was anxious to see which world Verseless will be transporting us to this time around. The new EP is called Home. So lets dive in and see what in store for us.

Home consists of 4 tracks and below is a track by track review:

1) Freedom:

This track has a serious deep house feel. Its laced with an enchanting ambiance sound and vibe. This is music for the soul. The arrangement of the kicks and percussions reminds me of tribal house, it has that Culoe De Song kind of sound and feel. The track is enchanting, its freedom in a beat. Whilst listening to it, my mind got free from other crazy stuff and I managed to  relax and enjoy. Also found myself bumping my head and clapping to the rhythm especially from 02:13 when the beat was returning. The wavy, mysterious like vocals added to the enchanting feel of the track. In overall this a brilliant jam. I Love it and its perfectly titled. Freedom.

2) Home ft Fluid, Sharky and Lincoln the Prez

This jam is on a hip hop tip. The instrumental is great, its light and has a feel good vibe to it. Love the jazzy feel towards the end of the track, the saxophone, kicks, hats and keyboard work...its heavenly. Home in this case means Identity. The track is urging people to be true to who they are and resist from being fake and getting pushed around by shallow popular trends. Sharky was on point on the first verse, loved his lyrics and delivery. Fluid killed the chorus. Lincoln gave a great perfomance on the second verse. The combination of the artists is just on point, they compliment each other in an amazing way. Great work to the producer for organizing such a collaboration. Solid track.

3) Run ft Fluid

Remember I said Verseless's sound is experimental in the introduction of this article. This track perfectly shows how much he is willing to experiment with his sound. Beat-boxing was introduced on this track and its sounding superb. Kudos to the beat boxer. What amazes me here is how he flawlessly blends the beat boxing and the trap inspired bass lines. Also love the dubstep inspired part from 01:19 -01:45. When people say music is an art this is exactly what they mean. Run is a love song, its about finding your one and true love....Running and searching till you find that person. Did not know Fluid before I listened to Home (2nd Track above), but I can publicly say am already a big fan. He is a superb vocalist. This is a brilliant track.

4) Sparks

For a producer who does not like to be tied down to a single genre whilst also being a free spirit like Verseless there is always going to be one track on the EP or album where you will be like Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat is this!?!?!? This is that track. I don't know what genre this is...I just know its music. Personally am a fan of crazy, weird and unconventional music so I like this track. However am not going to do a review, I will leave that for you the readers!!!! give your response in the comments section..What kind of sparks has this track ignited in you???

In overall this is a brilliant EP. its highly experimental and in the experiments definitely worked. What I learned here is; Verseless is the kind of producer who will rather create a new genre than follow an already established one. 

The response from Zimbos will definitely be mixed!! like I said before he is an acquired taste. Home and Run are the tracks most Zimbos will love, but for those Zimbos who have an open mind when it comes to music and are not governed by stated or popular genres this will be a priceless EP.
