Guspy Warrior - Kana wa Ready (official video)

Image
Guspy Warrior is undeniably a super talented Dancehall/Reggae artist. This is his latest offering Kana Wa Ready , a reggae love song.  He was quiet for some time, prompting many to say apera (he is finished). Currently he is making comeback, and this lovely reggae tune is a step in the right direction. The song is a remix/cover of Selena Gomez's song When You're Ready . The instrumental is great. Guspy is a great vocalist and this song attests to that. Guspy Warrior is not new to doing cover songs as he did a cover of   Breathless by Shane Ward and an Alicia Key's song, forgot the name. He is like the Zim version of Romain Virgo. The video is great, and standard, am loving it. Watch and Enjoy Proud_Zimbo

Top Songs Of April

1)  Ammara Brown - Havarare  : A super song. Original, refreshing and Fun. 5/5 2)  Ras Caleb - Sisi Rosey    :  Another super conscious song from the Rascal Dread. The song addresses the migration of many Zimbos to SA for greener pastures. To make it unique Ras Caleb sing from the side of those left behind, how they feel when their kids, partners have left them for opportunities in SA. 5/5 3)  Sinte ft Roki - Sweet Lady/Pfichuka  : Super super loving this track.....a masterpiece. 5/5 4)  Pee-Kay ft Charly Carlson - Sakolewa  :  Pee-kay gave us the definite Winter Anthem jam of 2015.  A worthy follow up to Ma1.   4/5 5)  Stunner - Never Gonna Get It  : Always on a bragging theme Stunner. This song however is refreshing. A new classy and mature Stunner sound. He also upgraded his flow and style. 4/5 Proud_Zimbo

Pee Kay ft Charly Carlson - Sakolewa

Image
This song has officially made me a fan of Pee Kay, andibilivhisa. Pee Kay as I found out is great when singing on these Naija influenced Hip Hop Beats as compared to the American influenced Hip Hop Beats. This song is a testimony of that. This is his latest offering Sakolewa featuring Charly Carlson . The song is about partying and dancing, don't know what Sakolewa means though..yet. The instrumental on this song is epic. Pee Kay did a decent job on is verse, same as Charly Carlson but the lady who provided the vocals for the chorus...ohhhh she murdered the song. She offered the song a much needed flavour and soothing factor. As a single, the song is superb, definitely gonna get most of us on the dancefloor. Listen and Enjoy:  Pee Kay ft Charly Carlson - Sakolewa Proud_Zimbo

Sinte ft Roki - Sweet Lady/Pfichuka

Image
Am loving this new vibe of music coming from Zim. This is a song by Sinte of the Tambisa Dako fame featuring Roki called Sweet Lady/Pfichuka . Its one of those songs you love from the first listen and will definitely get you on the dance-floor. The song has a great instrumental, it reminds me of The Way by Exq ft Roki. The beat is lovely, This is the new sound of Zim dance/party music. They may have taken foundation from Naija beats but the beat has been tuned and it sound Zimbabwean, its an evolution, a new identity of Zim music. The vocals are well recorded Sinte vocals and lyrics are on point, Roki as always nailed his part. The song is about kuPfichuka dancing like you crazy Roki is definitely on the right course to redeem himself, at this rate by end of year he will be back to his mesmerizing and 'Chidzoka' level. Love Love the song A video will do justice to this song. Will keep my fingers crossed for a video, timboona sweet lady achipfichuka....

Ras Caleb - Tokwe Mukosi (Steven the Saxophonist, Saxophone Edition)

Image
Tokwe Mukosi was a major major hits last year, and up to this day still remains a big song. A Classic . This was Ras Caleb breakout song, it was directed at the Tokwe Mukosi Dam flood victims. The song earned him the respect of many nationals, young and old alike. This is a rendition of his classic song done by Steven the Saxophonist. Came across it today when I was browsing on the internet. This is a beautiful rendition, beautiful. Personally am a fan of Jazz & Reggae music so this rendition struck the correct chords with me. A must have, must listen track..... Simply Beautiful Listen and Download:  Tokwe Mukosi (Steven the Saxophonist: Saxophone Rendition) Proud_Zimbo

Cal Vin - Z'khuphane (Remix) ft Casper Nyovest

Image
Z'khupane was Cal Vin's breakout Hit song. It topped the hip hop charts on the School Of Hip Hop on Power Fm, and received a lot of airplay on every urban radio station in the country. The song appeared to be a favourite of Casper Nyovest on his maiden tour to the country. The wish of Zim fans to see Casper collaborate with a local artist was granted when Casper  returned for his 2nd show which was held in the city of Kings & Queens, koBulawayo. They kept the beat from the original song, (the beat was already dope and not changing it was a great move). Both the verses on the song are standard. Cal Vin according to me is currently the baddest rapper in Zimbabwe and his verse proves that. If you loved the original song, definitely you will love this remix. I can confidently state that the remix is better than the original (something which many remixes fail to do). Abes'bona Bati Etaa Etaa Z'khuphane Download the Track :  Cal Vin - Z'khupane (Re

Maggikal : She Nuh Care EP (Clean & Raw)

Image
There are a many dancehall artists in Zim, and songs come out every day, uhhmmm no every hour there is a new song released. For me to blog about a dancehall song it has to be outstanding and this latest offering by Maggikal is superb, this one will mash up the club scene in the country...Guaranteed. The song is titled She Nuh Care.  The song is International Standard, one dancehall song that can stand up to Jamaican hits such as ; Bad Inna Bed, Make Me Feel,  Wine & Kotch, Pull up to mi Bumper ...etc. The Instrumental is awesome, not sungura dancehall like many which flood the dancehall scene. The vocals match up the super instrumental. The message....eerrm well like many hit Jamaican dancehall songs you never know but sure sounds great. Ohhh its about a girl saying she doesn't care about what people say as long as her man is there. (Thats what the chorus says) Some may say Maggikal sounds Jamaican and is not original on this track. That is true, very true but well the

Ras Caleb - Sisi Rosey

Image
Ras Caleb is one super-talented Reggae artist. This is his new song titled Sisi Rosey  the song is about a parent who is concerned about her daughter who left for SA in search of greener pastures. The parent is fearing for the safety and health of her daughter, they dream bad dreams about her, and they are afraid she will resort to unholy behavior to make ends meet. Ras Caleb always wins me over when he tunes out a reggae/conscious song such as this one, and is less appealing when he dabbles in dancehall. He is the best Reggae artist to emerge from Zim in quite some time and the vocals and arrangement of this song can testify to that. Other  superb conscious songs from the man are: Tokwe Mukosi, Zvipo, Toropito, Mwana Wenyu Uyu, Mutoro, Nehanda, Anodada neni ft Miz Dee .His lyrics Are meaningful The instrumental is awesome, we need more such one drop riddims in Zim. Ras Caleb now has to assemble a band, yes it may be relatively expensive but the genre he chose is not the disc

Takesure Zama & Joyous Celebration - Kuregerera in Advance

Image
This is a powerful song. A song that makes you feel How Much loved by God you are. Kuregerera in Advance is about forgiveness. Forgiveness is one of those actions Christians nowadays just speak of  but do not practice. Many have left church because of lack of forgiveness. Many have lost their faith because of holding on to grudges. In this song Takesure Zama is just explaining that we should be forgiving as the Lord has forgiven us. The Lord forgives us countless times as and keeps on forgiving us. As his children we must also  forgive others. In this video/performance he is helped by the most known and loved choral group in Africa Joyous Celebration Choir. The performance is heavenly and definitely will speak to your inner self. A song that will change you to be better. " handini ini kufa neBP ndigotadza kupinda denga nekuda kwekusaregerera moyo wangu wonanga gehena kwete Ndinokuregerera Ishe wakandiregerera saka ndatokuregerera Kuregerera in Advance

Thomas Mapfumo Independence Anniversary Statement

Image
DEAR fellow Zimbabweans, On behalf of myself, my family and the whole Chimurenga Music fraternity, please allow me to wish the people of Zimbabwe a happy 35th Independence anniversary. We unwaveringly take pride in our Independence as it marked the end of racial segregation after a protracted war of liberation. We salute the masses of our people, the heroes and heroines, sung and unsung, who dedicated their lives to our struggle for freedom. The colonial period was a dark epoch as blacks were treated as second-class citizens in our place of birth. We suffered restricted movements and failed to access countless opportunities for economic and social advancement. Today, it is a different story altogether. While the liberation struggle was fought among other things for social, political and economic transformation, it is regrettable that the majority of our people continue to enjoy only flag Independence. We have shocking levels of unemployment, corruption, poverty and wideni

Brythreesixty ft Dexter Baysiq - Checkmate (Official Video)

Image
This is a new offering from Brythreesixty a Christian Rap artist featuring Dexter Baysiq titled Checkmate . Before I reviewed this song I had to educate myself more on Christian Rap, what its supposed to sound like, the instrumentals and other relevant stuffs. Listened to the big respected guys such Lecrae, Andy Mineo, Trip Lee, Da T.R.U.T.H..etc. This song is directed to all those other secular Hip Hop artists. Dexter Baysiq in his verse said: 'These rappers talk about the same stuff so lame They say they balling but rilly they got no dollars just cheap watches and gold dreams  turn into an ugly dream" That's a direct attack on the other rappers. And on top of that they basically used Bobby Shmurda's Hot Nigga Instrumental, they just changed it a bit, Don't know if its a insult  to the secular rappers or lack of creativity on their part. As a hip hop song both artists gave great verses with Dexter's verse being the better verse in my opi

Courtney Antipas - Fal$e ( Public Rebuking of Prosperity Gospel)

Image
This was long time coming, it was just a matter of time and courage. Courtney Antipas has released this song in direct disgust of Mudiwa Hood on his music and actions which seem to contradict what he states he stands for. Christian Gospel music must be rooted to the Bible, the lyrics and themes must take foundation from the Bible. Gospel music is not a genre as per say but it is the message being sung. In the past 4-5 years there has been a rise in prosperity Gospel in the country and with it came Mudiwa Hood. His music is straight up flamboyant, Jesus money, and so on. In all his songs he sings about the Godly riches and he has gotten quite big and is highly regarded in the music sector.  Respect must be given to Mudiwa for popularizing Christian Rap in the country, when he started many criticized him but he kept on going until people were convinced that Gospel music is not a certain type of sound but it can take form of any genre. However his message was quickly criticized,

Tembalami ft Melz - LOVE

Image
Tembalami has released another pumped up Gospel song and Video featuring a lady called Melz who also featured on the hit song Hande . Tembalami loves to make us dance and praise the Lord at the same time. This song is about Love, everybody needs love and we also need to show love to others around us.  Its not love until you give it away . The song may not be as big as my favourite Bayete , but it will for sure make me dance and shout L.O.V.E  hee hee heee. The song is produced by Legendary Producer MacDee and well he always delivers,I personally cannot remember a time where he failed to deliver a great song. Watch the video and Enjoy Proud_Zimbo

The Curse of Wrong Supporting Acts.

Image
Whenever I hear the news of an international artist coming to our shores I become excited, but more than often the supporting acts for the show will shock me. Promoters in Zimbabwe just fill the poster with all the popular artists and hope to make a killing from the show. It worked for some time but judging with the recent shows that formula is now obsolete. There are different genres of music, and when an artist of a certain genre is coming for a concert, appropriate supporting acts must be selected regardless of their current popularity status. One major success was the James Blunt show that took place on the 18th of February, there were only two supporting acts, Rob Burrell and Tariro Negitare. The two supporting acts sing music similar to James Blunt and the show sailed smoothly because everything was correctly themed and in turn the appropriate crowd was attracted.  This weekend there we two major shows in the capital. The Ngoma Nehosho show headlined by Jazz Legend Hugh

Stunner - Never Gonna Get It

Image
Stunner has dropped another single titled Never Gonna Get It . This is a typical Stunner song in which he flaunts his life and success. The song is about telling haters that even if they want what he got they never gonna get it. The song I believe was produced during his American Tour.  The production is standard and the song is refreshing. This is a great development from the beats we are used to in Zim Hip Hop. Stunner's rap game is on point and am loving it. The chorus is awesome, don't know who sang it yet. Love the way he raps in all 3 major languages in Zim (Shona, Ndebele & English). In overall this is a great song, in my opinion its much better than Taunganidza Vanhu . If this is the new sound he is going for, I can safely say he is on his way to retake the King of Hip Hop throne. Image
The Bhundu Boys are the biggest boy Band to ever emerge from Zimbabwe. Below is iconic a beautiful performance by the Iconic band in Britain in 1987. They sang what they call Jit music. Currently Mokoomba is tipped to be top the standards and achievements set by the Bhundu Boys Proud_Zimbo

RayDizz & Simba Tagz - Party Remix (Official Video)

Image
Simba Tagz teamed up with popular Club DJ and part time producer Raydizz on this remix of Party,  one of the many hits from Tagz album Black. The song is a dance song and was already receiving quite a lot of airplay on local radios.  In comparisons of the remix and original song, no major changes were done to the beat, the only change is the introduction of Raydizz. I have never been a fan of Raydizz rapping and his verse on this song is weak (The boring part of the song) which made me much less a fan of it, Tagz maintained his already catchy and great chorus. As a song this is weaker than the original. The video on the other hand is standard and great. The quality is great and it joins the same wave as other EDM, Electro music videos out there on MTV, Chanel O, Trace..and other music channels. Nox - Fake

Image
Enock Guni affectionately known as 'Nox' has released another super jam called Fake. The song is about a girl/partner who is fake, those partners who are always cheating and giving false excuses. The song has an American RnB feel. This is Nox's best song in 2015. Listen and Download :  Nox - Fake Proud_Zimbo

Tocky Vibes : Toti Toti Album Review

Image
Obey Makamure popularly known as Tocky Vibes has emerged from his allegedly fall/decline with a new album.  After the stratospheric levels he reached last year with his several hit singles ( Mhai, Simudza Maoko, Aenda Nenyika ...) his next offering was very much awaited for and will be subjected to a lot of scrutiny, this album will either make or break his career. This is his debut album and below is a song by song review of his album. 1)  Tocky Vibes - Nyama Yekugocha  :  The first song is on a reggae tip, and the instrumental is awesome (Already Loving it). The song is about people who always see the bad in others. Those who always raise the heat in bringing others down. Great and meaningful song. A great start to the album. 2)  Tocky Vibes - Usarare  : This song is on a reggae tip with a lot of traditional flavour. As the title suggest he is urging people to keep on moving, working till you make it. Its a motivating song telling people to keep on working. The song sounds

Freeman - Musatikompeya

Image
The HKD Boss Freeman has dropped his much anticipated single Musatikompeya . The song is discouraging the extreme comparisons that are taking center stage in dancehall circles. These comparisons have led to violence at the dancehall shows and even outside the shows, in the ghettos people are fighting because of these comparisons.' Docta' as he is affectionately known by his legion of fans is advising against extreme comparisons and violence (Cane throwing) The song was produced at the Dollargettaz Studios. The beat is generic, nothing special to write about. The message of the song is mature and on point. Some will definitely criticize Freeman but he sang of the truth here. His other song Munhu Wese Akuimba also is not a favourite of many although he just stated the truth. The truth is largely not welcomed so l respect Freeman for standing up and Voicing the truth. Big Up To You Docta. Listen and Download :  Freeman - Musatikompeya Proud_Zimbo
