Courtney Antipas - Fal$e ( Public Rebuking of Prosperity Gospel)

This was long time coming, it was just a matter of time and courage. Courtney Antipas has released this song in direct disgust of Mudiwa Hood on his music and actions which seem to contradict what he states he stands for.

Christian Gospel music must be rooted to the Bible, the lyrics and themes must take foundation from the Bible. Gospel music is not a genre as per say but it is the message being sung. In the past 4-5 years there has been a rise in prosperity Gospel in the country and with it came Mudiwa Hood. His music is straight up flamboyant, Jesus money, and so on. In all his songs he sings about the Godly riches and he has gotten quite big and is highly regarded in the music sector.

Respect must be given to Mudiwa for popularizing Christian Rap in the country, when he started many criticized him but he kept on going until people were convinced that Gospel music is not a certain type of sound but it can take form of any genre. However his message was quickly criticized, the main questions being: Why is everything about money?? Where are the teachings about righteousness, salvation, deliverance???. Listening to his hit songs: Ndaita Mari, Anhu Acho Tisu, 10/10, Shaina Neni, Magnet... one will also end up asking the same questions.

After Mudiwa made Christian Rap popular many rappers started following suit, most notably Courtney Antipas (iLL Ceey). Ill Ceey took a different more Bible rooted approach with his music and lyrics. Listening to Ill Ceey's popular EP's such as Live Wise State of Mind Vol 1 and Vol 2, Legacy:My Testimony...his songs are filled with verses from the Bible and other teachings rooted from the bible. He focuses less on riches and more on being a more rounded Christian.

The turning moment came when Mudiwa featured on a GGB song called Set Free. The video starts with a young man poorly dressed vending on the streets with a prayer being narrated in the background, it then skips to a few years later when that same guy is in a mansion with fancy cars and sexy girls around him!!!!!..waaaaaat yeah u read right sexy girls. The song does not tell us how he got the money?? miracle money??!! Also the lyrics are questionable, its mostly about Maserati's, Range Rovers, Jesus money, mansions and a few references to the Bible. I reviewed the video some weeks back and was not a big fan of the video.

Mudiwa was then made ambassador of Ster Kinekor which is a great thing, his efforts are being recognized. However he agreed to be a headlining act at the premiere of 50 Shades of Grey!!!!! So unbelievable for a Gospel Musician. That incident hit the last straw of tolerance for many people and Courtney Antipas. On his Facebook page he wrote:

Question. When Goliath was publicly blaspheming the name of God was David supposing to go and pull him aside a say "hey bro you shouldn't be doing that"? Nah, instead David publicly challenged him. (1 Samuel 17)
Let me share another one. When Peter started acting out of line with the gospel did Paul wait to pull him aside to tell him not to do that or did he openly check him in front of everyone present on what he was doing? (Galatians 2:11-14)
Last night mudiwa and I spoke. He told me it's too late to meet up (coz i said let's do so) and that I should have holla'd at him first. But how many have tried that to no avail? Instead he said he will keep doing him (unrepentant). I was willing to scratch the song because for me it would have shown that he is willing to build but as he said, It's too late (as if he was gonna grant me time). So the song WILL drop tomorrow.
Proverbs 27:5 "better an open rebuke than hidden love."

He went on to release the song Fal$e condemning the actions of Mudiwa. In the song he is singing about all of the stuff mentioned above and giving Biblical verses and references to support his stance. Some will say he is just jealous of Mudiwa's success which may be true to some extend but listening to the song you hear he is not talking about success but fighting for Gospel music, he is saying that Gospel music should be based on the teachings of the Bible and not diluted with worldly things.

Another debate will arise about Christians and being rich. Ill Ceey seems to be implying so. As a Christian though I say: Matthew 6:33" But Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things(Riches, Wealth...) shall be added to you"

Ill Ceey has made his view and opinion known, and he has defended his view. We wait to see how Mudiwa responds and I hope this time he gives us Biblical references, verses and not responding with showing off his awards, bank statements and other ostentatious things.
