EP Review: Simba Tagz - Totenda EP

Image
Simba Tagz is making some serious moves on the continental scene, he was behind the production of the hit jam Akube by Dotman and currently he has been working and touring with Mr Eazi. For his birthday he decided to release an EP as an appreciation to his fans for the support. Have managed to get my hands on a copy of the EP and today will be sharing my views and thoughts on the Totenda EP. He was personally in charge of the production of this EP and he continued on this new modern afro beat sound that dominated his last album Natural Selection. Compared to his last project he has improved in terms of production. With his recent collaborations with Nigerian stars he borrowed some attributes from them and they are evident throughout the EP. Now below will be doing the usual track by track review: 1. Remember The first track is dedicated to everyone who has lost someone important in their life. It's about remembering and cherishing the moments/memories of the people w

Album Review: Sharky - Take Back The Land

Image
Sharky is currently the best Zim Hip Hop has to offer, his 2016 album Soko Matemai was awarded the best Hip Hop album of the year and it deserved that gong, did a review of the album you can check it out here: Soko Matemai Album Review . Now a year after the release of Soko Matemai Sharky has released a follow up album and for someone who loved his 2016 offering I was very much looking forward to his new project. Sharky is not one to brag or hog the limelight but he let's his work speak for him and I respect him for that. Coming into this album there are a lot of expectations I have, the major question is how it will compare to the awesome Soko Matemai. One major change I have observed is that the album contains less tracks than the previous album and that's a good move because I feel an artist must just present to us the best of the lot and not insert pointless interludes just to beef up the track-list. Going straight to the point make an album more compact and fulfilling t

Track Review: Shiddoh Brown feat Take Fizzo - PaGhetto

Image
So first came across this song a couple of weeks ago then I got busy and forgot to do a review of the track, so a couple of days back a fellow arts promoter asked if I could write a review so ya here were are today. Have been following Take Fizzo's comeback for some time now and love what he is doing for Zim Hop, adding another dimension to the sound. It's always awesome when a producer decides to branch from the popular generic production formats to give fans a different and refreshing sound. So after a couple of listens will be sharing my views and thoughts on this new Shiddoh Brown single. The track was produced by Take Fizzo and he did a good job, the instrumental is structured well and is sounding good. The beat is chilled which creates a perfect platform for the vocals to take center stage. Overall production is done well, good job by Take Fizzo. This track is a ghetto love story, Shiddoh has fallen for a ghetto chic and is flexing his lines, praising the lady wh

Track Review : ExQ feat Killer T - Nhema

Image
If you have been following this blog you will know how much i'm loving ExQ's new sound. His last album Putiti was a joy to listen to ( Putiti Album Review  ), he introduced us to the new ExQ on that album and I just fell in love with the new sound. He did not stop there as he went on to release the superb Jerusarema featuring HKD Boss Freeman towards the end of 2016 ( Jerusarema Track Review ), he opened his 2017 account with another big jam Let's Talk About It featuring label mate Nutty O ( Let's Talk About It Track Review ). So with such a proven track record, I was definitely looking forward to his next jam and it has finally dropped. So will be sharing my views and thoughts on the new single. The track was produced by Millitary Touch Movement's resident producer DJ Tamuka and he nailed the production. Have been saying for some time now that DJ Tamuka is the best when it comes to Afro Beats in Zimbabwe and he further solidified his position with this

Track Review : Bryan K - Forever

Image
Bryan K is going through a sound revolution, he has evolved from his initial afro soul sound to a more modern sound. Was greatly impressed by his debut 2015 Afro Jazz/Soul offering, Nyaya Dzerudo ( Nyaya Dzerudo Album Review ). Last year he introduced himself to the majority of Zimbos with the house jam Heavy Machine  and as the year was drawing to a close he featured on Mr Kamera slow tempo afro beat jam Pamusika, which this year got a remix featuring African stars Ice Price and Gemini Major. Bryan K has now dropped a new single and today will be sharing my views and thoughts on the new track. The track was produced by Nigerian Producer Ckay and he did a very good job. The instrumental has a lovely slow dance feel to it, which makes it a perfect song for couples, it would really fit well on a wedding. When the visuals drop a wedding setting would perfectly fit this song...( thank me later for the idea ). The instrumental is on a soulful afro pop tip, it's arranged very w
