Mbeu and The Mhodzi Tribe - Manera Album Review

Image
Mbeu and the Mhodzi Tribe are back with a new album and am very excited about it. The last two albums that I have reviewed from Mbeu ended up being my top projects in that specific year. This year the competition is cranked up to maximum with solid projects dropping left right and center. How will this album fare to albums like Mustard Seed, Verified Milestone, Songs Of David and Gwara. Rushed to get my copy and as usual will now be sharing my views and thoughts on the project. As usual will be doing a track by track review.  1. Chengaose On the first track Mbeu is saying try everything you can, despite the world being full of thorns and distractions you will find something that works for you. Production is done well, track is well arranged, the vocals and instrumental blend well together. Vocals are solid, Mbeu was solid as usual and the backing vocals are also solid.  2. Manera On the title track Mbeu is saying given an opportunity I will take full advantage of it. An opportunity is

The Queen of pop has finally dropped the much anticipated project. ExQ - Verified Milestone Album Review

Image
Mr Putiti is back with an much anticipated project. He is in a form of his life and over the past 5 years everything he touches is turning into a hit so when he announced this album despite giving a short notice the hype instantly caught on.  Definitely rushed to get my copy and today will be sharing with you my thoughts and views on the project. Major questions are how will it fare compared to his iconic last project Tseu Tseu?! We'll know at the end of the review.  Intro: Takwegura This is definitely one long intro! The intro track has a soulful vibe which I love, overall production is laid back. Definitely setting the tone of the album well. On the track ExQ is saying we have grown in love. He is narrating where their love started until now when they have grown in love.  1. Nepangu On this track ExQ is asking his love why she loved him given all his flaws and sometimes backward character. He also goes on to appreciate how she uplifts, motivates, supports and loves him. Productio

Freeman - Robbery Album Review

Image
Freeman is basically the alternative name for consistency, it's such an amazing feat to have someone who delivers consistently good projects for such a long time, ove  a decade now. When he releases you know its good before you even listen to it and he delivers. His last album Freeman & Friends was very well received and I was a huge fan of the concept. He is back again with another project titled Robbery, how will is fare to the last project?? We'll know at the end of the project. 1. Zvichanaka On the first track Freeman is saying it shall be well, we all want a good life. We grew up hearing it shall be well and not we still hear it without any change in our life, but keep on going. Production is good, arrangement of the track is quite okay.  2. Robbery Freeman is saying I love you so much that they can even put him in jail because he will commit a robbery to give you all you want. The wordplay is good on this track. Production is done well, they went for a reggae arrangem

Nutty O - Mustard Seed Album Review

Image
This is one album I have been anticipating for more than four years. Since Nutty O came onto the scene years back have been a huge fan of his talent, all those who follow this blog know that. Each year he has been growing in leaps and bounds and last year I felt he had fully matured, his mega hit Safe won my track of the year at the inaugural Proud Zimbo Music Awards 2020. When it was announced that an album was in the works I became hyped, now the project is finally out and have definitely rushed to stream the project and today will be sharing with you my thoughts and views on the album. As usual will be doing a track by track review. 1. Open Doors The first track on the album is a prayer, Nutty O is asking the Lord to open doors for him in his hustles, he needs mercy and blessings so he can provide for those who depend on him. Production is done well, the instrumental utilised the lovely Changes  riddim. Mac Dee did the things with the keyboard, overall production is superb. Nutty O

Nyasha David - Songs Of David Album Review

Image
Nyasha David has been making waves with his singles Mary Anne Njenjere and Ndoda for some time and was definitely impressed with what he was offering and the versatility he showed on those three tracks. When he announced that he was going to release his debut album was waiting to see if the versatility was gonna carry onto the project, was he going to better his first three tracks which all impressed me. The album has dropped and have gotten my copy and today will be  sharing with you my views and thoughts on the album. As usual will be doing a track by track review. 1. Njenjere The first track on the album was already a favourite of mine since it was released some months back. On this track Nyasha is saying life is dynamic and moves in circles, the situation one is in today will not be the same as tomorrow so don't look down on people judging them on their current standing. Production is done well, love the Dancehall feel of the track. This actually came as a surprise as I had sor

Trevor Dongo - Born In Highfield Album Review

Image
Trevor D is an icon for a reason, he has delivered a lot of beautiful music over the years. He has won over many people of different age groups and has been the undisputed king of RnB for many for over a decade. He released his more successful albums earlier in his career and over the years despite not reaching similar levels he has however delivered a lot of quality track along the way. The RnB genre has now expanded and we getting guys such as Bryan K (my current fav on the genre), Nyasha David, Nyasha Timbe just to mention a few also proving they are forces to reckon with. However one good thing about the genre is despite being at each others throught there is mutual respect and the artists share ideas and collaborate. This album also serves as a testament of that unity and respect as Trevor teamed up with various RnB icons and stars. Today will be sharing my views on the album, and as usual will be doing a track by track review. 1. Intro The intro is narrating the history of Trevor

Killer T - Inzwai Kuchema Mambo Album Review

Image
Reviewing a Killer T project is quite challenging, he has for years now stuck with one style and nearly all the stuff he releases sound the same, same structure, same vibe. Tasked myself to find out why he has found so much success despite his music sounding the same. One major finding is that the message in his music is spot on, he tackles topics that many are already going through, this is his strongest attribute. Also most of the times Killer T is crying about something , it's now sort of a signature of his, now given how millions of Zimbos are always stressed and crying about life, Killer T's music speaks to many, it ends up feeling as if he is singing on behalf of many. He has his own fusion of dancehall which resonates with many. Its been some time since I did a review of a project from Killer T. Today will be sharing with you my views and thoughts on the album.  As usual will be doing a track by track review.  1. Tsiurikawo On this track Killer T is singing from the pers

Bryan K - Halftime With Bibo EP Review

Image
Bryan K has definitely found his groove, he has fully embraced the soulfulness in his music. That move was more evident last year when he released the lovely Bibo Worldwide album, which I loved a lot.  Various tracks from Bibo Worldwide are still getting a lot of love to this day but despite that Bryan K has decided to hit us with some more soulful vibes. Was definitely waiting for this project, he was promising soulful jams and I'm all for that. The EP has finally dropped and after some days listening to the album will today be sharing my views and thoughts on the project. As usual will be doing a track by track review. 1. Don't Take It Away  Am not so sure about the first lines, their cringy, also the first lines after the first chorus are cringy. However despite those two lines this is quite a lovely jam, vocals are instrumentals are all arranged very well and complement each other well.  2. Huya Bibo continues on this lovely afro soul tip, on this track he is praising his o

It's always a good thing to introduce a sound that is unique to you, it's actually every artists dream to stand out and be unique. First got to encounter TrapSu in John Chibadura and enjoyed the song, this year he released John Vilu Gate which he tapped into the System Tazvida sound, also enjoyed that track. He has been perfecting his sound over the yrs and now we get a full album filled with Trap Sungura goodness and also fittingly titled Sungura Museve. Got my copy of the album and today will be sharing my thoughts and views on the album and TrapSu sound.  As usual will be doing my track by track review followed by mu overall thoughts on the album. 1. Jah Prayzah - Gwara Album Review

Image
Was a huge fan of Jah Prayzah's last project Hokoyo, loved a lot of tracks from the project and it became my favourite project from the artist. Also as the year ended when I did the Proud Zimbo Music Awards 2020 Hokoyo went on to become my album of the year.  At the beginning of each year when I compile the ten projects I am looking forward to the most in that year, JP's project was among the ten. So when he announced that a ln album was in the works I was excited and immediately got to listening when it dropped.  Wanted to see how he was gonna develop his sound from what he did on Hokoyo, whether he was gone better it....??? The album finally dropped and today will be sharing with you my views and thoughts.  As usual will be a doing a track by track review down below.  1. Bvumbamira The dreamy start was a good move, it set the tone for the track very well. JP is crying out unto his ancestors to guide and lead him on the journey of life. This is a prayer many are having in thes
