Seh Calaz - Love Story Reggae Album

Image
Boss Yala is one of the best vocalists in the dancehall genre. He has managed to remain quite consistent over the year with a rather steady flow of releases. I have to however admit that not all the releases have been impressive, sometimes he makes you ask " Whaaat is this??!!!" then the next moment he impresses you, sometimes you feel he doesn't put effort intentionally. However I have been his fan from years back and everytime he releases any project I have my fingers crossed.  Among his projects his reggae projects have been the better ones as compared to the pure dancehall ones. Some weeks back he was asking whether his fans are ready for another reggae project and he has finally released the reggae album. Have managed to get my hands on the album and today will be sharing my views and thoughts on the project.  The album contains tracks and as usual will be doing a track by track review. 1. Love Story (No Woman No Cry Cover) This is the title track o

The Most Viewed Zimbabwean Music Videos On YouTube (16/02/2019)

In the past week two of Zimbabwe's biggest artists at the current moment Winky D & Jah Prayzah all released videos. Both videos went on to break the record for the most views by a local song in the first 24hrs since its upload on YouTube. The fans of the artists were taking jabs at each other on social media trying to prove their fav is the best and most popular, the artists however do not appear to be competing but are supporting each other and basking in the successes of both tracks. How good and entertaining the videos are is another issue which can be dealt with when the hype normalizes, at the moment its the race to a million views. This got me all thinking as which video by a local artist has the most views on YouTube. I got down to doing my research and below are the top 25 most viewed videos by a Zimbabwean artist's on YouTube. " Disclaimer: this list doesn't necessarily prove who is the best but rather who is the most popular. An artist can be pop

The Vine - Musandipfuure Album Review

Image
The VINE is a Seventh Day Adventist Choral Group that was formed in July 2014. As taken from their website, their main goal is to Spread the Adventist message and bring hope to people in this generation. Got to know about the group when I bumped into their track Musandipfuure on YouTube some weeks before the album was released and it won me over, loved the style and how refreshing it sounded. After that researched about the group and to my joy realized they would be releasing an album in the following weeks. Could not manage to attend the launch but a friend of mine attended and she was blown away. She urged me to definitely get the album and hear for myself...and a couple of weeks after the release have done just that. Was surprised that the group used instruments in their music because from my knowledge, artists from the SDA church do not use instruments, they sing acapella. Have always been a fan of their acapella music over the years since the Shower Power days so was excited

ZimPraise - The New Commandment Season 11: Let Love Lead Album Review

Image
Zim Praise are the biggest and most popular choral group in the country, they are known in all corners of Zimbabwe. They sort of have a monopoly hold on the genre, which is understandable given how they have overcame many odds throughout the years to reach this stage. They are at stage where they are not dealing with scandals or squabbles and it a good platform for them to concentrate on their art. Their last project the Hymns Night 3 was good, enjoyed a number of tracks and it made me look forward to their album, wanted to see if they can be as equally good with their own songs. They have released a new project titled The New Commandment and have been listening to it for some time and now I can share my views and thoughts on the project. Love the fact that the album is a love recording, there is an atmosphere, there is a certain amount of energy that a live recording possesses that a studio recording cannot replicate. The is a double album which contains 24 tracks and as us

Baba Harare - Ramba Wakadzvanya Album Review

Baba Harare had quite a successful 2018, his track The Reason Why won many over with its irresistible energetic Jit vibe, lyrical humor that got many singing along and dancing. He followed that up with the track Guzuzu featuring Jah Prayzah which also got quite a lot of airplay. Due to his success in 2018 it convinced me to include him among the 10 artists one should keep an eye on in 2019.  Baba Harare did not wait any time opening his account for 2019 as he dropped his album just as the year began. He has been talking up his album for some time now saying it gonna be bigger than The Reason Why and that made many wait for the project, me included. The album has finally dropped and have managed to get my copy, listened to it and today I will be sharing my views and thoughts on the album with you.  The album contains 11 tracks and as usual will be doing a track by track review: 1. Ramba Wakadzvanya The title track was also the first single released off the album and
