Proud Zimbo :Top 5 Songs of June

Image
1) Stunner ft Tally B - Unemamhepo This track officially put the Stunner vs Mudiwa debate to rest. It was just too brutal. The hook on this song is awesome, one of the best of 2015. 2) Elliot ft Tehn Diamond & Russo - Handiwoni This song is just beautiful. Elliot showed why This Is Records Boss Russo is proud of him. He has a great voice and the evergreen Tehn finished of the track. A must have track. 3) Dexter Baysiq - Celestial Dexter will be a household name soon. His rap game is better than most of the secular rappers. If he steers away from controversy he will be a force to reckon with. 4) Karizma - Heartless. Karizzy as he is affectionally known by his fans delivered one super song. He moved from his zwagger themes to a more grounded tone. He impressed on all ends. Great Song. 5) Roki ft Exq - Alleluya Roki is finally back. Despite me not understanding what he is singing about half of the song, its still a great song. Exq gave a dope verse

Song Review : Dexter Baysiq - Celstial

Image
Dexter Baysiq is a new upcoming Christian Rapper hailing from the Capital Harare. He is making a name for himself in the Christian Rap industry and with the level of talent he exudes soon he'll be one of the big names. Many knew about him after he collaborated with popular Christian rapper Brythreesixty on the track Checkmate ( Read Review ). Have listened to a number of tracks from the lad and am truly impressed. From the first track I heard from him ( I am on My Way ) to this current track its clear to anyone that he is really putting in the work and such talent and effort rarely goes unnoticed. In Celestial   Dexter explains his life and ambitions, he expresses his feelings towards the arts industry, fighting the stereotypes that are created for christian rappers. His rap game is on point. The instrumental is heavenly, am loving every part of it. As a package this is a brilliant song, it takes you into another place.....its soothes the mind. The lyrics are audible and hit

Album Review: Killer T - Ngoma Ndaimba

Image
Killer T who was "allegedly"  on the decline returned with a banger of an album Ngoma Ndaimba. He had a below par 2014, he failed to maintain the levels he reached late 2013 when he entered the dancehall scene. 2014 saw the rise of artists such as Tocky Vibes and Souljah Luv, they dominated the market and Killer T was one whose reputation was moving in the opposite direction as them.  Killer T first showed signs of a comeback with the hit track, Handitambe Navo ( Mamero ). Whilst people where still enjoying the track, he released the critically acclaimed, Ghetto approved album Ngoma Ndaimba. Below will be doing a track by track review of the album. 1) Kumanikida Rudo : On this track Killer T is advising people not to force love. Whenever you force love you will suffer one hell of a heartbreak in the end. He just informs people that when there is love, one can see, so there is no need to force love. This song is on a chilled tip.                           4/5

Song Review: The Ghost ft Simba Tagz & Gze - Hapana Chekumirira

Image
Hip Hop was kinda taking a back seat in recent months, with less songs being released. Most of the song released in the past months were more on an Afro-beat tip, so having a song which is pure hip hop is welcomed. On this track, The Ghost teamed up with Showtime Records artist Simba Tagz and super rapper Gze. The track was produced by Cuttybeats. The instrumental is on point, am loving it. Not too fancy but smooth, well mixed, well mastered. The song is about keeping on hustling, "Hapana Chekumirira". Tagz as usual gave a nice hook, however on his verse his rap game was average. Gze on the other hand delivered a great verse, rap game on point, he always stands out whenever he features Its not a track that's gonna be a massive hit, but it a great song to listen to. At least they are working to keep Zim Hip Hop alive. Listen and Download: Another Download Link:  Hapana Chekumirira (Datafilehost) Proud_Zimbo

Beef Discussion : Mudiwa ft Craigbone - Vandikoniwa vs Stunner - Unemamhepo.

These two guys have been at war for more than 6 yrs. Last week they were both given the same beat and chorus by producer Craig Bone and they both delivered great songs ( Read Review Here ). We thought the beef had dissipated but how wrong we were!!!! Last night both artists were in the studios recording diss tracks. Will be reviewing the songs below and giving my piece of mind.  Mudiwa ft Craig Bone - Vandikoniwa : Firstly Mudiwa you are a Gospel musician!!!!! seriously be just that, there is no beef or diss in gospel music. Am disappointed, how then will your music bless someone when one day you dissing someone and the other you singing about the Lord. Be organised and principled, if you like beefs and diss tracks remove the Gospel artist title you give yourself. In terms of beef and competition, using the same beat and format for another song is just plain weak, lack of creativity. Also one cannot brag about being the child of God, we are all children of God. Bragging about

Song Review : Winky D - Machikichori

Image
Bigman has finally released a new tune, its been long. The song is titled Machikichori and is on the Zim Talent Hunt Riddim. Winky doesn't feature much on local riddims so this is a welcomed move. Firstly the instrumental is ok, nothing new, one will feel like they've heard it before many times. This song is about Winky bragging that his sounds are the best and are controlling the dance-floors all over. To be frank, that has not been the case for some time now. Of the last ten songs he has released Winky is now concentrating more on bragging and telling us that he's the best, and less on good music. It was fun when he released Takaipa  Takaipa , and Sando Dzangu but now its too much. We need the Winky that gave us Controversy, Bhachi Nejean, Paita Party Musarove Bigman, Mumba Mababa, Taitirana ..etc where did the creativity go??? This bragging stuff is for shallow upcoming musicians. Surely Winky you can do better than this!!! Listen and Download the So

Songs Review: Mudiwa - Vegodo Vandikonewa & Stunner - Vegodo

The release of these two tracks came with quite a stir on twitter. The two artists were given the same beat and chorus by producer Craig Bone. It had seemed that the tow artists had agreed a week earlier but yesterday we awoke to Mudiwa attacking Stunner on Twitter saying he stole his song and beat??!! I believe he just wanted to create hype for his song. Anyway the two tracks have been released and will be reviewing the songs below. 1) Mudiwa ft Craig Bone - Vegodo Vandikonewa : Mudiwa's song is based on Isiah 54:17 { No weapon formed against you shall prosper... }. Loved both the first and second verse. What I loved most about this song is that Mudiwa mentioned verses from the Bible, one element that was missing in most of his songs. Gospel music must walk hand in hand with the Bible. Listening to this song, one will not mistake the song for anything else except it being Gospel. It seems the previous scandals and outrage by fans made Mudiwa reinvent himself. If this is the p

Freeman - HKD Singles

The Dangerzone Boss Freeman has released a two track EP. Freeman is on of the biggest dancehall artists in the country. He has been on top of his game since he released his first album back in 2011. He is the reason behind the popularity of Dangerzone. Below is a song by song review of the EP: 1) Pesinari ft Dorcas :  This track is about relationships. Freeman is saying whenever there are problems in a relationship, the two people involved must learn to talk to each other rather than rushing to tell relatives and friends. The song was produced by Dollagettaz & Tesho. Its a nice song, not a banger or chart topper but a nice song nonetheless. 2) Happy Holiday: This is a party summer song. Although we are still in the middle of Winter. It seems Freeman is already gearing up for summer. It may seem too early which also may be true or he released the song early so that when summer arrives fans will already be knowing the song word by word. The song sounds nice, a great part

Song Review : Cal-Vin - They Don't Know

Image
Cal-Vin is having a fantastic year, from the moment he released the track Mabhebhi Ekuno ft iconic rapper Stunner, his stake has been increasing with each song. He went on to release the hit Z'khupani which caught the eye of Award winning South African superstar rapper Casper Nyovest, and they made a remix together.  He has returned with this track They Don't Know . This track is about people/haters who talk about you but don't even know half of your story. You the only one who knows your dreams and aspirations, other people can only speculate but they will never fully know.  The instrumental is heavenly. Cal-Vin is proving to be a super producer, he makes some of the best instrumental in the country right now. His rap game is on point, delivering super bars as he explains his struggles, the effort and amount of works he puts in to be successful. Hope we get a video for this track. Track Review : Karizma - Heartless

Image
Karizma has released a new single from the Upcoming NGNGv3 Mix-tape. The song came with a video. Karizma is based in London and is one of the artists pushing Zim Hip Hop to the world. He was a host on the popular hip hop show on Zifm Stereo called the Fixx. He has given us the super classic track Tsvarakadenga featuring Kazz. Its been time since he gave us a super song and this track is currently generating a lot of buzz on social media. Karizma's tracks are mostly about swag but this one is on a more grounded tip. On this track he is pouring out his feelings about the struggles he faced and still face of his music journey. This is a track from the heart. The instrumental is great, chilled...it does not take attention away from the lyrics but it compliments the feeling behind the track. The video is simple but awesome. Pairing the video with the theme of the song, the complete package is just superb. It serves the purpose very well. Watch and Enjoy: In ov

Song Review : Elliot ft Tehn Diamond & Russo - Handiwone

Image
Elliot is an upcoming seriously talented RnB artist from Russo's This is Records. He gave us the song Titangidze Rudo featuring Chenai another This is Records label mate. The track was fairly successful, and received quite a commendable amount of radio play on all top urban radio stations. To further announce his arrival in the RnB scene Elliot has released another jam, this time featuring talented and popular rapper Tehn Diamond. Titangidze Rudo was great but did not exactly raise eyebrows, or stir a lot of attention to Elliot's talents. This new track does exactly that. In this song despite featuring a heavyweight on the song Elliot shined, something a few upcoming artists get to do. The production of the song is just smooth and lovely. The beat despite being sampled, sounds great. Elliot showed how good a vocalist he is, Tehn Diamond as usual on point (He rarely misses). The combination of the two artist worked well. This song has already entered the Power Fm da

Song Review : Seh Calaz - Nhasi Ndinhasi

Image
Seh Calaz or Mubhanditi as he is affectionately known is definitely owning 2015 in terms of dancehall. Nhasi Ndinhasi is a song that will put him on the top of everyone.  In the past 12 months he gave us super hits such as Kwatinobva, Shanda, Ndinochema, Yesaya, and the much loved popular  Bandit Rebirth album ( Bandit Rebirth Review ). The popularity of his statement " Gore Rino Muchadzidza Zvakawanda " just proves how he is ruling the Zim Dancehall fraternity. This song was produced by Oskid at Kenako Studios, and it will definitely add to his list of hits. The song has a great instrumental, the kind will make people fill the dance-floor. The song is about living each day as it comes, Calaz is urging people to enjoy each moment as it comes but do so in moderation. No two days are alike so people must use time wisely. Seh Calaz's vocals are always on point, well he is the best vocalist in the Zim Dancehall genre and on each song he makes it a point to show peopl

Song Review : Freeman ft Delroy - Dutty Gems

Zim dancehall has new song every hour, one cannot keep up with them. I listen to my share of Zim dancehall, not too much but appropriate so as to know who is who in the genre. Came up this song when l was browsing through the many Zim dancehall songs available. Its a song by the Docta Freeman featuring Delroy titled Dutty Gems . The song caught my attention and decided to blog about it. The song has a great feel to it, unlike other similar sounding Zim dancehall songs out there, this track is refreshing. Freeman has had years in the industry and he continues to stand his own against the new crop of Zim dancehall artists. This song is international standard, well that's how my friend who is crazy about Zim Dancehall labelled it. This is a great song by Freeman and hope we get more tunes such as this. Infact an album with quality sounds like this will cure out hearts and dance-floors. Proud_Zimbo

Album Review: Thomas Mapfumo & Blacks Unlimited - Dangerzone

Image
The legendary Dr Thomas Tafirenyika "Mukanya" Mapfumo released his much awaited album Dangerzone on the 17th of February. Mukanya is an iconic artist in Zimbabwe and Africa. His music was instrumental in motivating solders during the Liberation war of Zimbabwe, it was so influential that the then Rhodesian government had to arrest him. For more on his History read:  Thomas Mapfumo Wikipedia Page WorldMusic : ThomasMapfumo Archives : Thomas Mapfumo Or just type his name into any search engine!! The big question arising from the new album is; Does Mukanya still have the touch that made him into an internationally recognized Icon?? Can he still belt out new classics to match his long list of hits such as Nyoka Musango, Mamvemve, Chigwaya, Kuenda Mbire, Chamunorwa, Moyo Wangu, Vanhu Vatema ,..?? Dangerzone contains 12 tracks and will be doing a song by song review of the Album. 1) Chikonzero : One feels the Chimurenga vibe as the song kicks off. Mukanya h

Winky D - Chiramu/I Cry Medley (Official Video)

Image
Winky D has released the video to his 'new' song Chiramu . Firstly the song, to all Bigman fans is not even a bit new, he has been performing it for about more than 12 months prior to its official release. . The song isn't faring well because everyone already knew it and were already fed up with it when it was 'officially released'. A valuable lesson to other artists, don't perform a new unreleased song for too long before releasing it. Now to the video. The quality of the shot is just amazing, the video is bright and colourful. The directing on  the other hand is lacking. The video is lukewarm and not rilly entertaining apart from the beautiful ladies that feature. Compared against superb videos like Skubhu, Tambisa Dako and Alleluya  this video stands no chance. With new videos pushing boundaries, l expected the mainini to be seriously seductive, she was not....she just beautiful. Watch the video: Proud_Zimbo

Video Review : Roki ft Exq - Alleluya

Image
Roki has released his first song of 2015. He has featured in many hit songs ( The Way, Pore Pore, Sweet Lady ..) this year and it was high time he gave us his won work. This jam is called Alleluya .  This is an uptempo afro track. The track was produced by Oskid at Kenako Studios. Oskid is at his peak right now churning out hit after hit at his studio, definitely the best studio in the country right now. The instrumental is superb... Roki voice is his best quality and its one of the best things about this song. Exq gave us his signature chilled flow. The combination of Exq and Roki seems to be the best in Zim right now, song such as The Way , Pore Pore and this one attest to that. The song came with a super Video, also directed at Kenako Studios. I have to say the video rocks, it the energy of the song. Its well directed and shot. One of those videos one would not mind watching over and over again. Its a song that will get you on the dance-floor... Another hit from thes
