Songs Review: Mudiwa - Vegodo Vandikonewa & Stunner - Vegodo

The release of these two tracks came with quite a stir on twitter. The two artists were given the same beat and chorus by producer Craig Bone. It had seemed that the tow artists had agreed a week earlier but yesterday we awoke to Mudiwa attacking Stunner on Twitter saying he stole his song and beat??!! I believe he just wanted to create hype for his song. Anyway the two tracks have been released and will be reviewing the songs below.

1) Mudiwa ft Craig Bone - Vegodo Vandikonewa : Mudiwa's song is based on Isiah 54:17 {No weapon formed against you shall prosper...}. Loved both the first and second verse. What I loved most about this song is that Mudiwa mentioned verses from the Bible, one element that was missing in most of his songs. Gospel music must walk hand in hand with the Bible. Listening to this song, one will not mistake the song for anything else except it being Gospel. It seems the previous scandals and outrage by fans made Mudiwa reinvent himself. If this is the path he is following, will definitely be waiting for his next songs.

2) Stunner ft Craig Bone - Vegodo : Stunner is praising the Lord for blessing him. He is advising people not to concentrate more on haters but if they have Jesus in their lives they will make it. Loved all three verses.

In overall both songs are great. They will both be favourites of many. To select which song is better the following were considered:

  • Mudiwa however gave us few bars than I expected, two verses compared to three by Stunner, his verses where also smaller As the song progresses it becomes more Craigbone than Mudiwa.
  • In terms of rapping both of them gave us their typical signature styles. Its becomes a matter of rap style preference, for me both styles do.
  • On the mood and feel of the songs, Stunner appears to be enjoying more compared to Mudiwa. Listening to both songs one will get that distinction.
  • In terms of message, Mudiwa's inclusion of Bible verses makes his song solid. Stunner's song is on a bragging tip, he is however is acknowledging the importance of having Jesus as part of his success. Judging by the genres both artists concentrate on, they both performed well respectively.
If am to chose one song will chose the Stunner Version. Some will see it differently, which is normal but regardless of that both songs are great.
