Track Review : Brythreesixty - Nantsi Pata Pata

The much anticipated Nantsi Pata Pata track from Brighton "Brythreesixty" Wiseman is finally out. Brythresixty is still reveling in the success of Shay Baii which he features Nigerian rapper Lil Dizzie and Konzeresa Remix which features Mudiwa and Cal_Vin. These two songs have helped Bry break into the regional market. Konzeresa is currently receiving a lot of airplay on South African radio stations and Shay Baii was mentioned in number of Nigerian music blogs. The new track has a lot to live up to so how does it fare ???

The track was produced by Tumelo "Tweezy" Mathebula, the award winning producer behind AKA's All Eyes on Me, Sim Dope and Run Jozi. The beat samples Miriam Makeba's Pata Pata. The production is standard, love the transition from the Pata Pata chorus to the verses. Tweezy did a great job on the production, its not Run Jozi standard but its good nonetheless. The snare loop ending of the track is a bit questionable and divisive, some may like it some not...am not a big fan of that ending.

The  first verse is Bry's version of started from the bottom.

" ...wanna thank God for everything i've got
started with a pata pata now i got J's..."

He is rapping about how much work he is putting in his music and despite what others, say his music is going global. He also borrowed some lines from AKA's Run Jozi and French Montana's Ain't Worry About Nothing.

On the second verse he is talking about how people are always try to pull you down, how they want to control and take advantage of you. He further went on to say he is now saved and no longer living a life of sin. He also shunned Reason's Reezus Christ,  great and brave move there.

Some phrases from the track you might need to know to fully enjoy and understand the track :

  • Pata Pata - Hold/carry (in this sense, to hold or touch suggestively)
  • Saguquka – We turned around/changed (in this sense, to groove)
  • Sathi – We said
  • Bheka – Look
  • Yiyo – That’s the one/that’s it
  • Nantsi - This is (it)/Here (it) is

In overall Bry delivered some great verses and the song sounds good. l see the track getting a commendable amount of airplay on all urban radios in Zim and South Africa.

Compared to the other two hits this song can stand its own ground. Love the Pata Pata Instrumental (minus the ending) more compared to the other instrumentals. Is Nantsi Pata Pata better than Shay Bii & Konzeresa??? reply in the comment section.
