EP Review : Kapital K - IV EP
Kapital K is one of the best rappers in Zim. He has won over many hip hop fans with his bars and tracks. He released his EP on the 9th of September this year. to summarize what fans should expect this is what he had to say about the project :
“This EP has more of a feel good vibe to it – nothing emotionally depressing – and just caters to those who are all about having a good time but still going about their hustle.”
So how good are the tracks and how true is his statement??
The EP contains 4 tracks and will be doing a track by track review of the EP :
1. Overtime
Nyasha Mak was behind the production of this one and he did a great job on the production, its well made, audible and well mastered. The track is about ambition, putting in the work in-order to achieve your dreams. Kapital K delivered his signature standard flow on the track.
2. Dough ft JaySim
Produced by JaySim the instrumental is sounding pretty dope. The track is about the cash (Dough). Its about making and spending cash, living the good life. JaySim did a great on the hook. Kapital K did his thing on the bars.
3. Hold Your Head
Did a mini review this track a couple of months back : Hold Your Head Review. The track is well made, love the instrumental. On this track Kapital K is saying he is the best, his tracks are the best, his rhymes are the best, his ladies are the best....He will make you hold your head. Dope track.
4. Good Over Here
Dutch showed his talent behind the production on this one. This is my favourite track on the EP. The instrumental is dope, well made. Big up to Dutch. The is a celebratory track, one you will sing after you've made it. Kapital K is saying I've come a long way, from the days he was a nobody to being a respected person...so he saying we good over here. Superb.
In overall the IV Ep is dope. The production is top class and the instrumental are on point for each track. The Producers did a great job. Kapital K showed why he is regarded as one of the best Zim rappers, he delivered standard and audible flows throughout the EP. The subject matter is as stated :
“This EP has more of a feel good vibe to it – nothing emotionally depressing..."
The only problem this EP will face is its applicability to the situation of a normal Zimbo in the street. The track themes do not really relate to most Zimbos at the current moment and that's gonna affect its success locally. But well he said it :
"... just caters to those who are all about having a good time but still going about their hustle"
Its definitely not for everyone, he was also not lying on that part. For all hip hop fans this is a must have EP.
