Track Review : Tocky Vibes - Anakirwa

Tocky Vibes had prematurely switched to contemporary traditional music at the expense of his popularity in Zim Dancehall circles. His music was mature yes, but such a bold switch never really works as planned, Tocky has seen his fame wade into oblivion. Many had already forgotten about him, such is the volatility of Zim Dancehall, one moment you on top the next you are forgotten. After taking note of his mistake he decided to return to Zim Dancehall, the prodigal musician is now back but will the dancehall fans accept him?? can he retain his yesteryear glory and fame??

The track Anakirwa was produced at Mt Zion Records. The instrumental is okay, its similar to this popular Jamaican Riddim, the name is escaping me. The whole production of the track is standard, the vocals are audible, and the instrumental is smooth , well mixed and mastered. T-man did his job well.

The track is about when one enjoys (anakirwa). Its a party song. Its talking about what a person does when they  are enjoying themselves, when they are drunk, when they are in that crazy party trance. Tocky is however using words which l have no idea what they mean. Tocky rose to fame mostly because of his deep shona lyrics and meaningful songs. However one cant always sing deep songs, on this track he was trying to sing a simple party song using deep shona and the result are some confusing lyrics. The song sounds good but not great.

You cannot in this case avoid comparison, comparing this track to any from Killer T's album will prove how much Tocky needs to works if he is to reclaim his crown.
