Track Review : Takura - Ma Obama

Personally I believe Zim Hip Hop needs new players because the current generation have done their best and although they are still brilliant they cannot take local hip hip to a level beyond the one it is now. Just like what happens in Zim Dancehall after every 4-5yrs new players come and push the genre to a new level, such a succession or level of competition and innovation is required in local hip hop scene for the genre to grow. Hence the entrance of players like T Gonz, Takura..etc is very vital and even the masses seem to be appreciating the new guys.

Takura is riding high on the success of Zino Irema and following up to such a banger is a tough job. However it was inevitable and a follow up track was needed. So when he released MaObama, I was quite anxious to see how it will fare!!??.

The production was again entrusted to C.O.G, the one who produced Zino Irema. . Hip hop is changing and as much as I don't actually prefer trap beats they are the in thing and are everywhere. To me after a couple of tracks they all seem to sound the same. Regardless the instrumental is sounding quite good, the producer did not change the formula he used on Zino Irema. If you enjoyed the first song you will also love this one. The production is standard, the song is well mixed, its sounding balanced.

MaObama is all about the hustle. Most of us want the good and finer things in life, hence we have to work for it. You have to keep hustling for that cash. Most people in Zim right now are working in the informal sector and day in day out we are running to make ends meet. Kutsvaga MaObama/Hustling for cash is the motto for that whole lot and this track echoes to that.

Takura gave a good performance on the jam, to me its seems a lot similar to the first track. he is quite consistent I can say. The track has a catchy easy to sing along chorus. The lyrics are also easy to comprehend and are quite reflective of the day top day happenings in the streets.

In overall, his growing fan base will be pleased with this jam. For me, am waiting to see how diverse he is before I fully become a fan. This is a nice jam, for Zino Irema it took th visuals for me to become a huge fan. If MaObama also gets good visuals, I may also become a much bigger fan of the jam.

What are your thoughts on the track??
