Visuals Review: ExQ feat Nutty O - Let's Talk About It.

ExQ is absolutely owning this new afro sound that he has adopted. His last album Putiti introduced us to a new ExQ and I enjoyed listening to that album (Putiti Album Review). Besides from owning the new sound he has proven that he has a good eye for good visuals, Alleluya & Bhachura Remix are among the best visuals by a local artist from the past 3 years. With such a good track record when he announced the release for the Let's Talk About It visuals I quickly clicked the link provided. Have watched the visuals a number of times now and will be sharing my thoughts on the video. Reviewed the track when it came out, read the review here: Let's Talk About It Track Review.

ExQ's Bhachura Remix is performing well on YouTube and is also receiving a commendable amount of airplay on Trace Africa and ExQ would want to keep the momentum going. He engaged the Bhachura Remix director Blaqs for this video and he did quite a good job.

The track has a simple story-line and they did a nice job visually depicting what the track is about. Loved ExQ's intro for the first verse. The video has a warm tone to it, which gives everything this golden kind of glow and highlights the red's & browns. The background setting is well made.  Blaqs is really improving when it coming to his shot angles, his camera tilts, zoom ins and zoom outs are exquisitely done. All in all the video is standard and will fit in well when played among the loads of videos that get airplay on Trace.

The only "downside" to this seemingly standard video are the dances by Nutty O and those other dancers. They are not that...eeerrrhm, they lack that swag. I don't know if Nutty O was trying to pull off those Wizkid like dances or what but they are just off. The dancers at 2:02 are also way off and slowing them up was a bad decision because one will not be able to know what kind of dances they were doing. The reason for dances is for the fans to follow them when dancing to the song or to add some swag to the artists and the dances here do neither. Choreography was needed.

In overall the visuals are standard, the directing is quite good, the storytelling is okay, its a modern video and for its intended market it will do well. Hopefully ExQ gives us the visuals for Jerusarema featuring Freeman (HKD Boss), that song is superb and is just begging for visuals.

What are your thoughts on the visuals??
