Track Review: Fungai Nengare ft DJ Naida - Maybe Its You

Fungai Nengare is a jazz fusion, afro pop RnB artists from the capital city Harare. He has been in the music industry for some time however he is mostly in the background so many may not be familiar with the name. First heard of him on the Reverb 7 & Friends compilation album which came out a couple of years back. I don't know if he is under Showtime Records but I associate him with Reverb 7 and Showtime. So I came across this track via a Reverb 7 post/mention. Got to listen to the track and decided its worth mentioning to my fellow Zimbos.

The track is on soulful tip. Its the kind of sound one will hear from Prayersoul. The instrumental is happy and bright, its well arranged. The guitar work is lovely, Fufu did a good job on the acoustic guitar. In overall its well made, clearly audible, balanced and smooth....great work on the production.

From the title one will definitely know it's a love jam. Love & relationships are complicated, a single person can frustrate you and also at the same time make you feel more loved that you have ever been loved. The actions of that person can make you feel so jealousy and possessive to an extend you did not even think possible. So Fungai and Dj Naida are going through a journey to find out what makes love so confusing and complicated, also what brings out those feelings and emotions that you did not even know existed within you.

The two artists gave a very good vocal performance throughout the song. Fungai was very good on the chorus and his verse. DJ Naida got into her Hold You Down mood and killed her verse. They complimented each other very well.

In overall this is a good jam, it has a feel good vibe about it. You can't help but bump and sing along to the jam. Its just refreshing. I love it.

What are your thoughts on the jam??
