The 5 Best Songs from the first Quarter of 2015

The end of March signals the end of the first quarter of the year and l just thought to give you the best 5 songs released in the period in mention. The rating is made by observing radio plays, fans reviews and my own rating of all the aspects of the song. The list goes as follows:

  • Exq ft Roki - The Way : The song has an amazing afro-beat soulful feel. Its that kind of song that makes your hips move even if you do not want. The vocals are on point, Roki showed his amazing vocal ability on the chorus and verse. (like this, like that, control, relax, chiuno, chiuno, go low go low...ohhh my) And Exq deliver his always chilled verses which blended perfectly into the beat and feel of the song. Superb Song.

  • Soul Afrika ft Tehn Diamond - Newe : These guys are really are dominating 2015, of the songs they released this year Newe is the best. The song has an awesome instrumental. The guys regardless maintain their Zim identity regardless of a beat that is reminiscent of Nigerian beats. The song has a great message, l love the "Mai Mfana Wangu,  Madhuve Wangu, Iwe Svovi Yangu, Svusvurandada Yangu", The way they incorporated those deep Shona words into a song without making it dull is amazing. Thats what is call maintaining their identity. Tehn Diamond provided a great verse which blends uniquely and awesome with the beat.

  • Courtney Antipas ft Prayersoul - Forever Girl : In terms of love songs this is the best l heard this year from our Lovely Zimbabwe. This was the ultimate Valentines song and its a perfect song for a wedding. Courtney Antipas gave us sweet awesome verses whilst Mr Prayersoul did what he does best, serenade. The song is chilled, relaxed and hits the right spots. The combination of these two different artists (Hip Hop & Soul) works exceptionally well giving us this soulful rap song.

  • Gze ft Cuttybeats - Mushikashika : This song here is already a classic. Gze teamed up with Cuttybeats, Vito, Zarzu and many others to give us this conscious rap song. The song depicts the struggles of ghetto life, focusing mainly on the plight of the cab and kombi drivers. The song is well produced and the lyrics were well thought. The video does justice to the song, fitting perfectly with the lyrics and theme of song. All the people l made listen to the song loved it, not even one said anything top the contrary.

  • Janet Manyowa - Tarisa : Tarisa is a beautiful, powerful song. A happy testimony for anyone. The song is refreshing and the production is on point. A must Listen.
