Track Review: Stunner & Mudiwa - Kunamata

This collaboration was definitely a long time coming. Before all the beef most of us know about these guys were actually friends. They helped each other a lot at the beginning of their careers. They took different paths as their careers grew and along the way a beef emerged. These went on to become icons in the music industry, they both have huge followings and have inspired a lot of young rappers. A collaboration between the two was inevitable, (personally I believed despite all the public beef these guys remained friends deep down) it was just a matter of when! So how does Kunamata fare??
The track was produced by Passion Java Records and T-Man of Mt Zion Records. The instrumental is okay, its a typical T-Man and Stunner hip hop beat. If you have been following Stunner for the past 12 months, you will be familiar with this type and structure of instrumental. The song is well produced though, vocals are clearly audible and it's sounding very well balanced. Its well polished, the inclusion of Passion Java Records improved the quality, the mastering improved. Great work on the production.

On this track the rappers are saying they are now living a better life due to their acceptance and inclusion of Jesus Christ in their lives and are inviting others to do the same. These guys are most known for their flamboyance, and this song is not immune to that!! the way they delivered their message has a lot of flamboyance to it. Some will love it but personally am not really a fan of such style. Love the fact that they stressed kuti anyone can go to church and be a believer, Mwari haana favour, He is there for everyone. On the other hand am also not a fan of the miracle based gospel, especially when no basis or foundation has been given to the people first, so  for me that takes away some points away from the gospel side of the track.

Both the rappers put in a great perfomance. The verses brought out the differences between them and also showed their strengths. In terms of rapping, their styles are not that much different. The guy in charge of the chorus sounds very much like Ngoni Kambarami....maybe its just me. The chorus is on point, it blends well with the instrumental and vibe of the track. I have to admit, Stunner and Mudiwa managed to complement each other very very well, on such a track one will think that their huge egos will ruin the track in that one will be trying to outclass the other but surprisingly they managed to keep their egos in check and give a balanced track. Yes some will try to compare but listening to the track, I found myself enjoying the track without the urge to compare!!!!its well balanced and structured. Solid collaboration.

In overall this is a solid track, fans of both artists will not be dissapointed by this track. How the majority of Zimbos will receive this track is left for time to tell.

What are your thoughts on the track??
