Proud Zimbo's Top 5 Tracks of January

January was a great month in musical terms, great tracks were released. Judging by what we heard 2016 is going to be a big year for local music. Reviewed only 5 tracks in January namely: Tehn Diamond ft Simba Tagz - Bho Tsano, Stunner ft Jah Prayzah - Hatireve Nyambo, Tytan & Ammara Brown - Mukoko, Nutty O - My African Girl and Noble Stylz ft BlacPerl - PaPa

At the end of the month, I select the best five songs released that month. The ranking is weighted against my rating of the track coupled with the ratings given by random people in the streets. So here it goes:

5) Stunner Ft Jah Prayzah - Hatireve Nyambo
The track is about saying no to poverty and working hard in order to make it. Stunner is urging Zimbos to stand up and work. Jah Prayzah laced the chorus with his signature voice. They all combine to make a great track.

4) Noble Stylz ft BlacPerl - PaPa
Not much hype was made prior to the release of this track and many people have no idea of its existence but for those who had the privileged of listening to it will testify what a great track this is. PaPa received the most harsh reception and ratings from selected random public members affiliated to Prophetic Churches, they felt he was attacking them (which is not entirely false). Despite that, quite a number of people were impressed by the translation of "Papa's" way of doing things from church to the Club setting. PaPa may not have a great instrumental as We Run It but as a whole package its a much better track.

3) Tehn Diamond ft Simba Tagz -  Bho Tsano
With the abundance of trap beats everywhere its refreshing to hear a Hip Hop track with a different beat and Bho Tsano gives me that refreshing feel. Tehn might have lost some marks for his Drake kind of flow at the start but he made up for it as the song goes, couple that with how Tagz murdered the chorus the result is one good track.

2) Nutty O - My African Girl
Nutty O is the fastest rising reggae/dancehall artist in Zimbabwe. He is immensely talented. My African Girl is just fantastic, so good that nearly everyone I asked to rate and listen to this track needed convincing in order to believe Nutty is Zimbabwean. My African Girl blew me away from my first listen and it still sounds superb. Nutty is making a brilliant name for himself and Local reggae doesn't get better than this.

1) Tytan & Ammara Brown -  Mukoko
This is a masterpiece. I don't think there is much I can say about Mukoko except that just take a listen yourself...pure niceness. Tytan and Ammara make a great team, their chemistry was perfect for this track. Amazing instrumental, great lyrics, beautiful artists...what more can one ask for.
