Track Review: Plaxedes Wenyika feat ExQ - Beautiful Song

Plaxedes is making quite a strong comeback this year, loved the last track she released Now I Know , did a review of that track when it came out check out here: Now I Know Track Review. She has now returned with another track, this time featuring the iconic ExQ another artist who has made one massive (if not the biggest) transformation/evolution in these past couple of years. Took a listen to this track and as usual will be sharing my views and thoughts about the new jam.

The track was produced by the in form DJ Tamuka, resident producer for MTM Records and arguably the finest afro beat producer in the nation at the moment. Plaxedes is known for her classic soulful ballads and on this track she decided to add some modern elements to her sound and this lovely instrumental is the end result. Despite the track being on an uptempo afro tip it also manages to be soulful, respect must be given to DJ Tamuka, he did a very good job once again.

This is more like a victory song, it's a song you sing when you have managed to overcome all those elements that were pulling you down/backwards. Its about making a decision that whatever comes, I shall not go backwards but I shall remain pushing forward. Such a song is a sign of someone who has come to terms with reality and is now motivating himself/herself to look at the brighter side of life, the beautiful things around them and move forward.

Plaxedes has a soulful voice and she gives a solid performance on this track. Her performance is smooth, emotional and firm, exactly what is needed for such a theme. ExQ also did very well on his part, his laid back type of rapping was quite perfect for this song. The collaboration between the two works.

In overall this is a very good jam, the production is done very well, the vocals are lovely and the theme is powerful. What impresses me the most is that although this track is different from Now I Know It, they are both soulful and you can listen to one after the other and it shows Plaxedes knows how she wants her music to sound. That level of certainty/identity is massively lacking in a lot of artists these days. I'm loving this Plaxedes's comeback, I did not expect it all, will definitely be following her closely...who wouldn't want to be surrounded by such lovely music.

What are your thoughts on the track???
