Track Review: Varaidzo - Wakapenga

RnB music is mostly dominated by male artists on the local scene and when a female artist enters the frame or release a track, that is when you realize how awesome it is hearing a strong female voice on lovely RnB instrumental. Varaidzo has a superb voice, she mesmerized Zimbos on the track Ndoita Manyemwe which came out a couple of years back but then she kind of went quiet after that. I don't know if it was because of her varsity commitments or maybe the lyrics had dried out....only she can tell us why. She has now released a new jam and will be giving my views and thoughts on the track.

Russo was in charge of the instrumental and he did a commendable job. The keyboard work is done well and for songs like this one, the keyboard is what makes the track. The bass was also structured quite well, it gives the track a modern RnB feel. Overall production is done well.

This track is about praising your partner on how special they make you feel. Its about saying to them you are the best, you make my life worthwhile.

The vocals were the part I was looking forward to the most and Varaidzo did not disappoint, she did well. She showed that she still has a beautiful voice and she can control it very well. The backing vocals are also good, love how they manage to match up and complement the lead vocals.

In overall this is a lovely track and with Valentines around the corner it will definitely be on some playlists. My hope is that we get more track and even an album from Varaidzo this year, hope she won't disappear again.
