Track Review: Bryan K - Heavy Machine

Bryan K gave us one of the best album of 2015. Nyaya Dzerudo is a brilliant album and for a debut album, its the perfect announcement of his arrival on the local music scene. Managed to do a review of the album a couple of months back : Nyaya Dzerudo Album Review. Also included him among the top 10 artists to watch out for in 2016 (Zim Artists to watch in 2016). So how does Heavy Machine fare??

He left his usual sound and experimented on this track. Heavy Machine is a house track, and he worked with award winning producer Reverb 7. His track Beautiful You Are has a lot of house elements to it and on this track he went full afro house. The instrumental has a nice bass line and some simple but on point keyboard work. Bryan also added some nice guitar work on the track to give it that extra edge. Great work on the production.

This track is a celebration of the African Woman as Bryan stated. African women are known for their full figures hence the ziHeavy Machine analogy. But its not only about the full figure, Bryan is also highlighting their other priceless attributes, like their natural beautiful dark skin, brown eyes,  their understanding nature, their down to earth personalities, their unwavering support....basically all the stuff we love about our ladies. Indeed its a celebration of our beautiful ladies.

Bryan gave a great performance as usual. Every time he gets behind the mic he reminds us why he was the winner of the Star Brite competition and also why Zimbos must now start to give him more attention. His vocal performance was strong and on point here, with a lot of proud emotions behind it.

In overall this is a good track. At first did not know how I felt about the switch to house, but well house (esp deep house) and jazz share a lot of attributes so as much as it is a change (and because I love Beautiful You Are) I quickly warmed up to the track. This track will definitely help introduce Bryan to a lot of Zimbos because jazz does not get as much public attention as Dancehall, Hip Hop and House,  also coupled with a Reverb 7 signature its bound to get airplay on radio stations and that will be highly beneficial to Bryan.

What are your thoughts on the track?
