Tocky Vibes - Chicken & Chama Mixtape Review

When we're talking about exciting artist's Tocky Vibes is definitely on that list. Dude has reinventing himself in an amazing way and the results are beautiful to witness. He is one of those artist's who are very comfortable with their art.

Tocky releases many projects that its sometimes hard to keep up, he believes in giving art to the people and not holding it for that "proper time". On top of a number of singles he has already dropped in 2022 he has also released a new project and this time I decided to jump on it and do a quick review before he starts dropping more singles left right and center.

For this album will not be doing the usual track by track review because the project has 35 songs, the article will be too long. Am just jumping straight to the conclusion.

Production:

Tocky has reinventied himself in a way where he is no longer constrained to one type of genre or sound, this gives him a lot of space for experimenting and he exploits that freedom greatly. On this mixtape we get various type of genres from his usual sound, to Amapiano and Afro Beats. The production of this project is well done throughout and the instrumentals are also well arranged. Tocky managed to add that unique touch to all his tracks which ensures that despite switching genres on the tracks they all have that distinct Tocky vibe.

Themes:

The themes vary on this project from love and relationships, motivational, social commentary and some party vibes. Tocky has never shyed away from addressing important social issues and he continues with that boldness on this project.

Vocals:

The vocals are well executed on the project. Tocky delivered his signature style throughout the whole album. All who were featured, ExQ, Saintfloew, Leonard Zhakata, Shayne, Mr Brown, Pauline... did a gods job.

Overall thoughts:

The album is well made, Tocky has been delivering quality projects for years and had no doubts in that aspect. The unique feature of this album that got the attention of many is also its weakness, the number of tracks. It took me the longest to listen to all the tracks, 35 tracks are a lot, very very very few have the attention span to finish this album in one sitting, infact many including huge Tocky fans are yet to listen to all the tracks. Yes it's a Mixtape and technically an artist can have as many songs as they want but 35 is still a lot. Because of that most of the tracks feel like are just wasted as  most will just wait for the few tracks that will get popular and listen to only those. If you have to energy and time this album is quite entertaining, but if not just wait for the singles you hear on radio and in various social circles.

My Overall Rating 7/10
