Album Review : Bryan Kadengu - Nyaya Dzerudo
Got to know of Bryan K last year through Power Fm, used to listen to the 9-12 show everyday at work and the deejay would play him a lot. I just fell in love with his music. He majors in Afro Soul/Afro Jazz and he fuses his music with various elements. Got my hands on the album in January and has been listening and digesting the album for months now. Decided that its time I do a review and let Zimbos know about this guy and his music. So this is what I thought of the album:
1) Usasiyane Neni
No-one wants his/her partner to leave, this track shares the same sentiments with that feeling. Love the rhumba nature of the instrumental. I'm a big rhumba fan so ya this track does it for me, its well produced and Bryan K laced the lovely beat with his amazing vocals. Its just fantastic.
2) Marunjeya
Did a review of this track last year: Marunjeya Track Review
3) Matida (Wandida Here)
Asking out a girl is one amazing experience; Its fun and interesting and at the same time it's very stressful and you'll be anxious a lot of the times. A lot of emotions will be running through you at one time. This song is about asking a girl for a response to your proposal. Anyone can relate to that. Love the instrumental arrangement here, the track well made. Bryan K also gave a great perfomance on this track.
4) Beautiful You Are
Lovely lovely track. On track Bryan is describing and praising the girl that's driving him crazy. We all have been driven crazy and mesmerized by someone, this track describes that moment and feeling. The instrumental here is a bit uptempo and its sounding amazing. Bryan K as usual gave a awesome performance here, showcasing his vocal ability and he was enjoying himself. Witnessing his performing this jam and every-time it starts playing I have this mental picture of him dancing, achi bata musoro, nekubata musana...that was a brilliant performance.
5) Nyaya Dzerudo
Title track of the album. Love has many faces and aspects, it cannot be narrowed down to one aspect. This track has a lot of rock elements which makes it uniquely beautiful. However Bryan is saying to his partner come close and will tell you love stories, more like he is going to share his feelings with her, pour his heart out to her. The instrumental here is heavenly, the major rock feel is awesome and that part from 3:10-3:38 always gets me crazy, I'll be like playing my air guitar and acting like a rock-star, kneeling down, face grin and the signature smashing the guitar gesture after an excellent outstanding performance....hahaha. Fantastic Track.
6) Jamaican Girl
Many people have that fantasy of courting a foreign lady and bringing her back to the motherland and settling down with her. Exchanging cultures, teaching her the local mother language, achimbosunga zambia chi chi pamwe nekadhuku....hahaha. Bryan K's fantasy is taking a Jamaican lady and bringing her to Zim. Love the instrumental on this track, the instrumental is just well made. Love the rock inspired guitar work towards the end. Fantastic track.
7) Inseparable
This beautiful love song is on an acoustic tip. This is a track one sing when they are deep in love. Sometimes you partner makes you feel like you can fly because of the amazing love and support they give you. The song he sampled from is escaping me right now, some of you may recall it. The track is sounding great. Lovely Lovely jam.
8) Tanya
Also on a mellow serenading tip. The acoustic feel is still highly evident in this track. This song is full of soul, after listening to it I fully understood why he says he sings Afro Soul. Its so smooth and amazing. Bryan K is confessing his love to his partner on this track. His vocals abilities were on showcase here and he is sounding fantastic. Beautiful. This song always serenades me, before I know it will be singing along.
Listen to the album:
In overall this is a very solid album. Its a must have, I definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for an amazing album. One word I will use to describe this album is: FANTASTIC. Love all the 8 track to bits. Perfect.
