Album Review: Minister Michael Mahendere & Direct Worship - Getting Personal With God 3

Image
Minister Michael Mahendere comes from a musically gifted family which is know by every Zimbabwean. When he released his last album, the superb Getting Personal With God 2 he stepped out of the shadow of his brothers and carved a name for himself in the gospel circles. Currently he is among the most known, most successful and most loved gospel artists in the country.  He released the follow up album Getting Personal With God 3 last year and today will be sharing with you my thoughts and views on the album. It's a late review but regardless I just felt I needed to share this album with many other Zimbos out there.  Like the title implies, this album specializes on strengthening one's bond with the Lord. Its an album that pushes the listener to seek the Lord and work to create a stronger relationship with him. It in a way captures the feeling of the last album, whether if its better than its predecessor that we'll see at the end of the review. The album contai

Classic Zim Love Songs (Valentines Special)

As we draw closer to valentines I just thought of giving you a special article for that day of love. Will be sharing with you some classic, iconic and superb love songs from the local scene that you can use as your soundtrack on the day. Hope you will find a perfect song for that special day. 1. Pied Pipers - Ruva Rangu This is one classic track that will get you appreciating your partner to levels you have never reached. The Jazzy structure make this a perfect track to do that slow dance with your partner.  2. Somerai - Mudiwa Wangu This is one of the most sampled tracks in urban music and it does deserve to be sampled as much. The feel of this track is on point and is a perfect song to sing for your lady, its playful and super awesome.  3. Calvin & Muzi - Tombofara This is another timeless love jam, and its a song I wouldn't mind walking down the aisle to, its that awesome. The passion in this song is on point, it just makes you fall in love more.

Album Review: Winky D - Gombwe

The much anticipated album from Winky D is finally here, many have been counting down to this project and it's finally here. Winky D is a legend in the music game, he has been the face of dancehall for years, releasing hit after hit so you can understand the anticipation and hype surrounding this album. Winky massively upped his album release game in a big big way, he has finally accepted the icon/superstar status he has and the launch was a big one, something we previously only saw with Jah Prayzah. After a public fallout with Oskid around the release of his last album Gafa Futi ChiExtraterrestrial many expected Winky to work with another producer (I had guessed Nicky) but they managed to resolve their differences and agreed to work again together on the new album. Winky and Oskid really make a superb team and with Oskid behind the production you must brace yourself for some heavy underlying bass, Oskid loves his bass, hope on the album he refreshed his arrangement though.

Top 5 Tracks : Marko Sibanda

Image
Welcome to another episode of Top 5 Tracks and on this episode we concentrate on Marko Sibanda. This guys is the original storyteller, he would only sing for a small part at the beginning then the larger part of the track he would be narrating a story, which he did so well that he will have you captivated throughout the length of the track. Also he did not abide by the 3 min song principle many did, his songs were on average 15 mins long. So you can guess how many hours I had to go through as I searched for my top 5 tracks among his discography. 5. Wandinyadzisa The first track on the list talks about those people who do questionable actions and decisions. Those people who make you feel ashamed whenever they make a major decision. 4.  Mugeri This track is follows a normal sungura format and not the popular narrating style that made Marko as popular. On this track he is complaining why the barber gave him a modern popular style when all he wanted was to be left with a bald ha
