1)  Cal_Vin - King  The Luveve Boy is firing from all cylinders and this song is a testament to that, production is on point, lyrics on point....everything on point. 2) Seh Calaz ft Celscius - Sahwira  This is the baddest collaboration so far in Zim Dancehall in 2015. The two super talented vocalists both outdid themselves on this track. 3) ExQ - Bhachura The chilled rapper, is showing that he still got what it takes. This track is just awesome . 4) Stunner - Time The TCR Boss has finally nailed it this time. After some time without a major hit, he finally delivered one monster track.   5) Sniper Storm - Anondifonera The general is back with a bang. The song comes with some great visuals too. Proud_Zimbo

Good Music Ep 1 : Prudence Katomeni Mbofana.

Image
What is good music ??? the definition is subjective and we'll end up fighting trying to find a universal definition. To me good music is music that invokes feelings from within, music which a person can listen to for years and years and never gets boring. Good music is that kind of music which you never delete from your playlist regardless of the fact that you don't even play/listen to it as much as others. In my phone such songs which l never delete are : Alexio Kawara - Chihwandehwande , Afrika Revenge - Memo & Buwe Buwe , Jabhu Khanyile - Umkaya Lo , Oliver Mtukudzi - Muchatuta & Chara Chimwe , Thomas Mapfumo - Chamunorwa & Kwatinosienda , Prudence Katomeni - Susan , Chiwoniso - Ancient Voices , Simon Chimbetu - Kumagobo & Chauta ..etc when loading a new gadget these are the first tracks l load.  We all have such songs in our playlists. This post is for those who are still searching for some good songs that shall not depart from their playlist.  &qu

Track Review : Stunner - OMG (Ohh My Garrd)

Image
Stunner is currently dominating the clubs and parties with his hit track Time and he chose to hit us with another jam. He is creating a lot of hype for his upcoming album, he stated that it will be: " a new Stunner, never been heard before in Zim " and so far it seems he was telling the truth. So how does the new track fare?? can it match up to Time?? The track was produced at Mt Zion records. Trap beats are the in thing right now in Hip Hop and judging with the success of Time , they followed suit. The track has quite a lot of bass and its sounding superb. This will definitely be on the playlist of many Club DJ's this summer. Great Job by the producers. A guy's reaction when they see a hot gal is what the track is all about. It expressing the expressions and thoughts that run through a guys head in such an incident. The praises and superlatives they will use to describe the lady and the fantasies one would have in that moment. This is a fun track, its not o

Video and Track Review : Celscius - Chiedza

Image
Celscius is massively talented, his voice has won over every Zim Dancehall fan. The guy is definitely a one man choir...amazing. This year his stock is rising faster than any other Dancehall Artist, the top two collaborations in Zim Dancehall currently both include Celscius ; Souljah Luv & Celscius - Hatiite & Seh Calaz & Celscius - Sahwira Wangu.  He is just that good. Chiedza was released a couple of months back but the video was released yesterday so how does it fare??? The track is on the Sunsets Riddim by TMG Records. Am a big fan of conscious music and  this riddim does it for me, smooth, mellow and awesome. TMG did a great job on the production, even international artists would scramble to voice on this riddim, its sounding very good. The video was made by Mega Artz and l have to say they also did a wonderful job. The video compliments the song perfectly. Its a fun and engaging video, even the elderly will appreciate it. The quality is standard, the directi

Thulani - Nhasi

Image
Thulani is a Dallas based Zim artist who kept Zimbos all over the world dancing with his tracks Bata Musoro and Kure. He has released a new track titled Nhasi. This is a celebratory song, which he wrote celebrating his sister getting married. Its a simple feel good celebratory song. The instrumental is more to the deep house side than afro beat which is his major genre. The video is not even trying to be serious. I bet Thulani was like my sis is getting married, lets do something for her and this is what we got. Enjoy Proud_Zimbo

Track Review : Cal_Vin - King

Image
Cal_Vin is on a roll, he is really on top of his game at the moment. He released his Askies EP earlier this month and will be releasing his much anticipated album on the 26th of this month. He has definitely created a lot of hype for his Year Of The Vin album and if he delivers as he is promising, he will definitely become a modern Icon for Bulawayo music. Am still enjoying the Askies Ep and he has released a new track wow (he is matching Zim dancehall artists in releasing tracks), I can bet he is sleeping in the studio these days. He teamed up with fellow producer Kronik for this new track, and how does it fare??? Kronik & Cal_Vin have a great chemistry when it comes to beat production!! the instrumental is fire. Its very good, for those who thought the Bona instrumental was a fluke this will put all doubts to rest, hope they worked together again on the album. Kronik is definitely making a name for himself and uplifting Bulawayo at the same time. The production of this tra

Track Review : AbNorm ft Chyllur & Vicshaee - Love Begets Love

Image
AbNorm is a Zim based rapper/producer and founder of Chop-Suey Records. He has been in the game for some time but l only know of two tracks by him, Live it Up and the new track Love Begets Love . Am a big fan of Live it Up , its been in my playlist since its release during the AHHB & Rymes sessions more than a year ago. Will the new track match up to Live It Up ??? Love Begets Love was produced by Nyari "FTR" Masango. FTR is a respected producer in the Hip Hop circles, he produced Gze's Chimoio which is getting a lot of love and airplay on all urban radio stations. They also worked together on Live It Up . The instrumental on this track is chilled and it's sounding good. The songs has a great RnB feel to it, FTR did a great job on the production.  This is a love song in which AbNorm is expressing his feelings to a love interest. AbNorm's verses are not clearly audible, the way he is rapping makes it hard for one to clearly hear what he is say

The Art Of Photography : Tnash Photography

Image
When you ask people about art and what they consider art most will say music, followed by acting, be it, theater,  movies or series and some will mention drawing, painting  and for most their lists end there. There are many forms of art and in Zimbabwe we are blessed with rich and deep well of artistic people.  Photography is one form of art that is now being ignored due to the advancements in technology, everyone can now own a smartphone with a great camera or an actual professional camera. However despite that we all strive to capture that perfect picture like those ones in the magazines, like those we see on the internet and we have failed to do so repeatedly for years and years. That shows photography is an art. Yes we have all those advanced technologies but our pictures always seem to fall short. Photography is not about just facing the lens to what you want and pressing the capture button, there are angles which must be considered, the aperture, the effects, the type of

Video and Track Review : Sniper Storm - Anondifonera

Image
Sniper Storm's career has definitely been a yo yo ride. He releases a good album then disappears, release a few boring tracks and when all hope seems to be lost he comes back and deliver a super track. He is the longest serving artist in the dancehall genre with more than 15 so ya its a bit understandable. One cannot  continually release hit songs for 15 years, especially in a tightly contested and ever changing genre such as Zim Dancehall. Sniper is back with a new track and a video to go with it. Most of the videos from Zimdancehall artists are more on the dull side with only a few artists such as Sniper, Biggy, Freeman, Ricky Fire...offering some entertaining videos. So how does Anondifonera fare both the audio and video??? The instrumental was made by Jeepers (JMP) of Legendary Music. JMP did a great job on the instrumental, its sounding very good. He is the same producer who made Sniper's 2013 hit Kwarira Mukati . Looking at their track record it shows these t

Track Review : ExQ - Bhachura

Image
Musalala is back with a  new track. He last gave us Nzungu Ndamenya ft Cal_Vin, the track has received mixed feelings, some love it some not so much. However he is still having a great year, with his other tracks ( The Way, Pore Pore, Alleluya ) hitting the right spots with many Zimbos. How does Bhachura fare??? The track was produced by Oskid at Kenako Studios. Oskid did an awesome job on this instrumental, am loving it to bits. The guitar work is divine. The song is well made, applause & respect to you Mr Oskid. Bhachura is about a person who chooses to be single than to commit to the wrong person. The chorus is on point and powerful "Zvirinani Ndiite Bhachura  ndisati ndaita mashura mashura " This song tackles a very important topic which is being faced by many in their relationships. Was once in such a situation, however on my part the song was being sang to me and not the other way round...Despite being pregnant with message the track will cause d

Track Review : Tocky Vibes - Anakirwa

Image
Tocky Vibes had prematurely switched to contemporary traditional music at the expense of his popularity in Zim Dancehall circles. His music was mature yes, but such a bold switch never really works as planned, Tocky has seen his fame wade into oblivion. Many had already forgotten about him, such is the volatility of Zim Dancehall, one moment you on top the next you are forgotten. After taking note of his mistake he decided to return to Zim Dancehall, the prodigal musician is now back but will the dancehall fans accept him?? can he retain his yesteryear glory and fame?? The track Anakirwa was produced at Mt Zion Records. The instrumental is okay, its similar to this popular Jamaican Riddim, the name is escaping me. The whole production of the track is standard, the vocals are audible, and the instrumental is smooth , well mixed and mastered. T-man did his job well. The track is about when one enjoys (anakirwa). Its a party song. Its talking about what a person does when the

Tonight With Zororo EP 8 : Positive State of Mind

Image
TWZ is growing by each episode, this week's episode features respected disabled activist Florence Mudzingwa and Prudence Katomeni Mbofana on the coca cola sound-stage.  The theme for EP 8 is about having a positive mind and perception. As Zimbos we have faced a lot of hardships; politically, socially, economically...etc but at the same time we remain proud of being Zimbos. We should learn to speak about the positive aspects of Zimbabwe as much as we discuss the hardships. Loved hearing the views of other Zimbos about the goodness of Zimbabwe; the people, freedom to trade, the food, the hospitality, the weather.... Eskay perfectly described Zimbos: We always have a plan . Enjoyed the Florence Mudzingwa one on one interview. She was talking about protecting the disabled girl child in the society. She is inspiring the disabled girl child to keep on working and like she did they can also achieve their dreams. Powerful Jazz Queen Prudence has the job of serenading us on

Track Review : Seh Calaz & Celscius - Sahwira

Image
When two extremely talented vocalist meet there is bound to be explosions. Seh Calaz and Celscius are the two best vocalists in Zim Dancehall by far and was praying for a collaboration between the two, my prayers have been answered. Many Zimbos like me are anxious to know how the collaboration between these two would sound, is it hit or miss?? The Mabhanditi and Warrior Music collaboration was produced Dj Oskid at Kenako. Oskid seems not to be putting a foot or key wrong these days and this instrumental is no exception. Its standard and fitting to the track. l can see the ghetto youths doing "maClarks" to this tune. Great job by Oskid. The track is about true friendship (husahwira). Its encouraging and praising true friendship, having a friend who stands by you no mater what, that friend who encourages you to do good and stops you from going into a destructive path, a friend who is proud of you. These artist did justice to their verses. Loved Celscius on the chorus

Tinashe Makura & Chashe - Zvekupenga Fan Video

Image
Zvekupenga is amazing, its simple, light, refreshing, sweet, passionate, happy... l would take the whole day explaining how good this song is. It did not top the  radio charts as much as it topped our personal playlists, l even sang this song for my lady and l know many of you sang this song to your partners...its just that good. A video however was long overdue, such a lovely track needs visuals to go with it.....the video is finally here well a fan appreciation video!!!  Directed by Roland Naidoo of Sandawana Studios, the video is just fun. Its simple and fun. Its more of an appreciation video to the fans. Most of the clips are from their HIFA perfomance and those from the fans. Also Skype as the major communication tool for the creation of Zvekupenga because the artists were in different countries, so the video in a way tries to depict that. Loved the Dan & Lo intro and the Butterphly & Chamvary singalongs.  Proud_Zimbo

Track Review: Kunle Ayo ft Oliver Mtukudzi - Ile (Home)

Image
When two great meet for a collaboration we all anxiously wait to be blown away. Kunle Ayo a Multi Award Winning Nigerian Jazz guitarist based in South Africa collaborated with our own Multi Award Winning Legendary artist Oliver "Tuku" Mtukudzi for this afro jazz track. How good is the track ?? Afro Jazz music by nature must be soothing and relaxing, this track definitely has those qualities. Kunle Ayo  shows his amazing guitar work on this track, in between the singing one will hear that soothing acoustic guitar. The whole track is laced with some great guitar work but for those who looking for the sweetest parts listen from, 1:43 to 1:50 and 3:42 to 3:58. In overall the instrumental is well made and sounds awesome. The track as written on Kunle's profile "talks to the importance of  home and that feeling of comfort and safety of being at home.  Ile inspires a longing for the familiarity of home, regardless of how close or far it is". In terms

Track Review : T1 Wema1 ft Chris James, KiDD Aktive & MarcQues - We On

Image
Tawanda "T1 Wema1" Mhuriro is a new rapper on the Hip Hop scene. He has released a couple of songs such as: Chaka Kala , Anochera Ngoda ft Tinashe Makura and Tiri Two ft Anonzi Xnder. T1 is still trying to break into the mainstream and is this the track to give him the much needed break??? We On was produced by Mclyne, the producer who made Myke Pimp's  Harare Hairarwe . The song was mixed and mastered by Rehab Boss Anonzi Xndr. The guys did a great job on the production. There is nothing over the top or unique about the beat but its standard. This is a turn up track about parting and enjoying. Chris James delivered the hook, and he did an awesome job. T1 Wema1, Kidd Aktive & MarcQues all delivered great verses, they were all on the same level. They all offered different flavours to the track and the collaboration works pretty well. This track will do damage if dropped in the club. This was my first time listening to T1 Wema1 and he did not disap

EP Review : Cal_Vin - Askies EP

Image
Cal_Vin is undoubtedly the king of Bulawayo Hip Hop, his stock keeps rising by each release. He has put in the work and Zimbabwe is definitely taking interest in the Luveve based rapper. Whilst we are still jamming to Bona he has decided to release an EP. Initially he was supposed to drop his Year of the Vin album but he chose to give us the Askies EP as he puts the final touches to the album. So ya ya'll wondering how the EP fares?? The EP carries 5 tracks and below is a track by track review the EP: 1) I Got Now : The instrumental is maddddd, its angry..its fireeeeeee. I LOVE IT " I care less about who got next...cause i got now "  That's a bold and courageous statement to make. He definitely Got Now,  he is the finest rapper at the moment. This track is going stir something among many rappers, Hip Hop is about egos and this track will push others to react in order to protect theirs. Cal_Vin is in beast mode here, standing his ground declaring tha

Track Review : Vhedza ft Noble Styles & Courtney Antipas - Mwari Ngaarumbidzwe

Image
Vhedza is a talented upcoming rapper, did not know much about him before this track. He released his first album Trained to Reign a while back. The album introduced him to the music scene, although not that much popular it was a good start. The new single  Mwari Ngaarumbidzwe  is the second single from his upcoming album  titled Chosen Prophecy. Most Zimbos don't know about Vhedza yet, is he now worth the attention of Zimbos???  Mwari Ngaarumbidzwe (God must be given all the  Praise) was produced by The Future. Loved the intro, they sampled a choral group singing Ngaarumbidzwe. The intro definitely caught my attention. The instrumental is laid-back, its chilled laced with a Mwari Ngaarumbidzwe loop. The loop is good but louder than necessary, its distracting and in some instances its hard concentrate and hear what the rappers are saying. The instrumental could have been better. Vhedza featured heavyweights rappers Noble Styles and Courtney Antipas. Its always a gamble

House Music With DJ Jason Leroux

Image
Dj Jason Le-roux is the most popular EDM everything in Zim. Most of you are like whaaaaaaat but when we talk EDM be it radio, shows, music Jason Le-roux is the name that will be mentioned the most by Zimbos. Jason became more popular because of his Hidden Culture show on ZiFM Stereo which aires every Saturday from 21:00 hrs to midnight. Hidden Culture is purely EDM and nothing else, its the only show like that on Zim radio and by default its the biggest EDM show. He also started Neverland, Zim's version of Tommorowland which happens every December. Its the Biggest house festival in the country. He posts his weekly shows onto his soundcloud page. For all those who are not able to tune in on Saturdays you don't have to be left out on the party. He also post his other mixes from the many places he tours and plays. Am a big fan of house, mostly deep house. Jason focuses more on house but plays other house related sub-genres, so ya this post is for my fellow house and fans.
