Bryan K - Famba Neni

The diversity and growth of the local music industry is just amazing to behold. If you just spread your listening net a bit further you will be amazed by the depth of talent we have in Zim. Having this blog pushed me to widen my listening base and it has led me on one amazing journey of discovery.

In 2015 I came across Bryan Kadendu most known as Bryan K and he won me over from the first track. After hearing his track Nyaya Dzerudo on radio a couple of times I began searching for his album and after some months (with some luck) I bumped into the album and all my effort had not been in vain because his debut album Nyaya Dzerudo is a solid piece of work. The album did not dominate the charts or make as much noise as it deserved to but those who heard it fell in love. He followed the album with the house hit track Heavy Machine which introduced him to many Zimbos and he again followed it with the track Ndoita Sei end of year which is getting quite a lot of love from Zimbos all over. Heard and interview he did with Larry Kwirirayi of 3Mob and he stated that an album is on the way and he will be dropping a couple of singles as we head to the album. It seems the singles have started dropping and today will be sharing my views and thought on the latest single.

Change is very difficult for everyone and personally I was hurt when Bryan K left the afro soul sound for afro house on Heavy Machine and afro beats on Ndoitasei, he is growing and experimenting with his sound and it paid off because the tracks sound good  but regardless was just hurt. A big smile came to my face as I listened to this latest single, I'm pleased to know and announce to you that the afro soul Bryan K still exists.

This track is on a super lovely afro soul tip, for those who may not know afro soul its a mixture of soul and African sounds and is laced with some very emotional vocals. The instrumental arrangement is done very well,  the end result is a smooth soulful jam with a lot of jazz elements in it. One thing I love about Bryan K;s music is the guitar work and that very short part from 03:13 till the end shows he still has the touch...but its so short, why is it that short!!!!!!. In overall the production is done well.

The track is about asking that lady you want to take your hand and join you in this journey of life. He also goes to compliment how amazing the lady is and how his parents will rejoice when they get to know her. I bet every lady wants to be told so!

In terms of the vocals Bryan K delivered a solid and passionate performance, he has always been on point in this department and he did not dissapoint. The backing vocals are also done well, the complemented the lead vocals very well.

In overall this is a lovely jam, the production is done well, the theme is on point, the vocals are well done and the overall feel in on point. I know Bryan K is going to be switching between many genres but regardless he should not lose this afro soul of him, it's superb. Lastly this track has renewed my interest in the upcoming album, hope it will have at least 3-4 afro soul tracks.

What are your thoughts on the single???
