Artists Making A Strong Comeback

Every year there seems to be artists making a comeback into the music industry, a number of artists are reinventing themselves in order to be able to compete again in this fast moving industry. Today will be sharing artists that I feel or hope will make a comeback this year. The artists on this list are those who at one point were dominating either the industry of their genre.

1. Leonard Mapfumo
Leo is one of the most recognizable pioneers of urban music in Zimbabwe. During the rise of the urban grooves movement Leonard Mapfumo was arguably on of the finest rappers in the game. Up to this day he hold the record for the longest chart topping record in the history on urban music with the classic Maidei. Despite being one of the big guys he found himself in obscurity as urban music developed. After some short comeback stints he seems to have found his touch once again and his latest track Huhwii featuring Taurai Mandebvu can testify to that.

2. Tocky Vybz

2014 was Tocky's year, he was the biggest artists in the country, he was having shows all over and people could not get enough of him. All that changed when he released his debut album the following year in which he was trying to change his sound and the majority of his fans deserted him as they thought he had betrayed them. Up to this day he has become the biggest example of how quickly one can fall from grace, from being overbooked in 2014 to not being on any recognized show in 2015. Tocky however did not stop producing music, he kept on polishing his sound and after three years I can say he has regained his touch and is shooting back to the top.

3. King Shaddy
When Shaddy is in form no other artist can reach his creativity levels, he has this amazing ability addressing a controversial social topic in a way easy to digest manner sprinkled with a lot of humour. During his career he has never been a album person and his strength is in singles. He started making his comeback last year with the track Bhero which received a lot of love from many Zimbos because of how it's relate-able to the masses and this year he seems to be going from strength to strength, He is releasing tracks more frequently which is a good sign.

4. Plaxedes Wenyika
Plaxedes is one of the icons that emerged from the Urban Grooves movement era then she went for a very long sabbatical break. She has now re-emerged with the album Metamophisis and is trying to capture the hearts of Zimbos as she previously did.

5. Maskiri
The godfather of rap music in Zimbabwe is making a comeback, its not as loud or explosive as he would want but it's promising. His latest track Machurch featuring Nox is getting love from many of his fans and it trickling to many Zimbos as the days go by. It still to be seen whether he will manage to return to the iconic levels he once reached, the hip hop genre has moved forward so he has quite a big challenge on his hands.

So ya those are the 5 artists whom I feel a making a strong comeback, feel free to comment with other artists whom you feel are making a strong comeback this year.
