Track Review: Jah Prayzah feat Nutty O, Tahle, ExQ & Andy Muridzo - Chekeche (MTM Anthem)
The news of Jah Prayzah's record label Military Touch Movement caused quite a buzz these past couple of days. There was a lot of excitement and expectation as Zimbos received the news. When the biggest artist on the local scene starts a label, the masses are definitely gonna take notice. On top of the announcement, a number of high profile artists have also been signed to the label, namely, Andy Muridzo (uhmm uhmm interesting signing), ExQ and Nutty O just to mention a few. After hearing the news, we were all looking forward to the music, something that they knew so they have released their first track which is the MTM Athem titled, Chekeche. Today will be giving my views and thoughts on the the new Military Touch Movement Anthem.
The track was produced by Dj Tamuka who I believe is the best when it comes to Afro Beat in Zimbabwe. He did not disappoint on this track, he delivered a good instrumental, the arrangement is standard. All in all the production is done well.
This track is basically an introduction for the MTM record label to Zimbos. They are saying this track is fire and you cannot resist. The artists are highlighting how they are going to make some superb music and get every Zimbo dancing despite of one's class and status.
The track also showcases the different styles and flavours of the various artists in the label. Jah Prayzah gave his usual style. Nutty O was on point, his style fits the instrumental better than all the other artists here, (I give more credit to Jah for signing Nutty O than other artists, the lad is talented and with Jah's plans for dominating Africa, Nutty O will fit perfectly, his sound has the appeal needed). Tahle was okay on her part, ExQ was good and Andy Muridzo was also okay but you can feel kuti this is not his sound.
In overall this is an okay jam. The instrumental is good, couple that with how they structured the vocals it will definitely get people dancing. Expect to hear the track doing some rounds on all radio stations. Now that the Label has announced itself to the masses we now look forward to the more serious singles, EP's and albums.
What are your thoughts on the anthem??
