Mokoomba - Mokole

My love for Mokoomba is no secret. I cannot get enough of their brilliance. Their live performances are just the best in Zim no doubt about that. So this year they are releasing a new album and i'm very excited about that. Hope there will be physical copies available because I will be buying one. Last year they signed to a German record label Outhere Records and they will be in charge of the production of the album. They have now released the first single to the album titled Mokole and today I will be giving my first reactions and thoughts on the single.

Ok so first this Luyando album is going to be an Acoustic album and that means the tracks are created primarily by instruments that produce sound through acoustic means rather than electrical means. Instruments such as, hosho, acoustic guitars, African drums, mbira, marimba, congas...etc

Now to the single, the instrumental is sounding very good. The instruments are arranged very well, the banjo like guitar strum lead is superb and it blends well with the African drums and the acoustic guitars. The bass guitar is probably the only electrical instrument on the track and well Trust Samende knows his bass guitar. All in all the production is solid.

I'm not gonna try to decipher what the track is about because I cannot speak chiTonga at all. They however switched to Ndebele in the last half of the track and I can understand Ndebele to an extent. On that part they are asking for water to drink...for the full meaning of the track, I will leave for them to answer.

The vocals are on point, Mathias Muzaza's vocals are powerful and dynamic as usual. The backing vocals ware also on point, you can really feel that these guys are used to singing together.

In overall its sounding good and i'm enjoying the track. Had the track on repeat in the office whilst working and during that time I served five clients, and each one of them was nodding their head to the beat whilst I was serving them. The track has a nice rhythm to it and you end up moving to the beat. Looking forward to the album.
