Master H - Dancehall Time EP Review

Master H made a splash beginning of last year with the hit Track Dhanzi and he has not looked back since then. Once he got the attention of many Zimbos, he continued to release big tracks but it was his investment in his live sets that impressed me the most last year. Mainly when many artists get a breakout hit, they put all attention onto creating the next hit and once they have a couple amount of hits and fans now want to experience them live, you will be left disappointed. Master H did not make that mistake and he has been delivering solid performances whenever he was called to showcase and that made his stock grow big.

His last project was the Tateguru EP which he released in the last quarter of 2024, the EP performed decently, Pressure featuring Kae Chaps was the biggest track from the project. Last year Master H made sure we do not get starved of music as he released quite frequently.  Less than 6 months one we get a new EP from the guy and whether this new project will surpass his last project or will it give him a better start to the year as compared to last year remains to be seen . Master H has mirrored his style to  Capleton so when he announced he was in Jamaica many hoped the two would meet and team up!!! When that has happened the hype of what these two would make was created.

The Dancehall Time EP has finally dropped and today will be sharing my thoughts on the EP

1. Ghetto Tears

Master H starts the EP by addressing the plight of youths in the Ghettos. Life will be rigged against you, you will have to fight for the basics, very few things will be going your way. He is motivating the youths to rise up and work, to changes one's narrative you have yo overcome the odds. The track is well produced.

2. Bum Bum Figa (feat Anika)

Master H is praising his lady on this track, he is praising her sexy appeal and a character which makes him go crazy. The production is done well, it has that hardcore vibe that Master H loves but its slowed down for the ladies, those who know how to get down on the dancefloor. The collaboration between the two works quite well.

3. Dancehall Time (feat Capleton)

This was the track many were waiting for, Capleton has a huge following in Zim so you would understand the hype surrounding this song. Master H and the Fire King are saying its not a party when there is no dancehall, dancehall music makes the party. The track is produced well, with these two you definitely expect a track full of energy and this track has lost of energy. Capleton delivered a solid performance, he showed that making dancehall music is second nature to him. Master H was commendable but he was drowned out by Capleton's performance, the master meets the student and the master shows why he is the master.

4. Bhoo Zvokuti (feat Nutty O & Freeman)

These last teamed up on the hit track Chahwiriri, they team up again to revive the magic on this track. On the track they are thanking the Almighty on the blessings that have been given unto them, few or many they are thankful. This is a track where all the guys are sharing parts of their journey from when they would daydream of a good life to now when they are household names. The production is okay, arrangement is different from the other tracks on this album, not the hardcore dancehall again vibe I was expecting. If you ever wondered how these guys would sound if they sang gospel music, this is your answer.

So ya that's it for the Dancehall Again EP and I have to say its another commendable effort from Master H. He continues to solidify his brand as the best when it comes to Hardcore dancehall, and those who love such a sound will enjoy this project more.

The production of the EP is done well, as mentioned before Master H went for the hardcore sound that is now expected from him, the only track that does not fit into that category is the last track Bhoo Zvekuti

Master H delivered an energetic vocal performance as is now the usual, whenever he sings you get to feel the energy in his performances, its his signature style.  That full on energy does not completely work on softer tracks such as Bum Bum Figa as it does on high energy tracks.

The song that many were waiting for did not disappoint, Dancehall Time is the best track on this project. Bhoo Zvekuti will probably be the sleeper giant as it fits this sound and style that Zimbos tend to love.

To conclude this is respectable project from Master H, not necessarily better than his last Tateguru EP. He has remained consistent however I don't know if these track will stand the test of time, in 6 or less months he may need to release more tracks.

My Overall rating: 5/10

Feel free to share your thoughts on the EP???
