Bagga Sang About Mvura!!! Who else sang about Water??? and why Water??!

Image
Water is life, this is a fact every one of us gets to accept. Its made up of simple chemical structure H2O but is so vital to the existence of all the complex life here on earth. Water is the lifeblood of life here on earth, it waters and nourishes the plants, it quench's the thirst of all animals and humans, without it there is no life. On top of all that we can literally witness it also seems water holds great spiritual significance, its seen as a good sign in basically every religion!!!. So its no surprise that artists sometimes use this literal and spiritual significance of water to deliver their messages. Have searched online for local artists who have done so and today will be sharing with you some of the best tracks about water and try to decipher their messages.  After some searching these are the best tracks about water that I have came across: Bagga - Mvura The  most obvious one to start at the moment is Mvura by Bagga, its among the most imoressive songs of 2024. ExQ - ChiHatrick EP Review

Image
ExQ is one of the finest artists we have in the country, he has been in the game for over 20 years now. He has managed to adapt and evolve his sound to meet the modern sound over those 20 plus years, he has matured in his art, you can still hear the elements that made him a favourite of many during the days of Ndichakutevera , Musalala , Mazirudo  in his music but with a more mature aura around his style. Mr Putiti as he also affectionately known has been on a roll for quite a number of consecutive releases now. Both his previous releases (Enoch, & Verified Milestone) have been quite successful. He has found home in the cool afro beat sound, its perfectly fits his vocals and style. He sometimes adds some soulfulness to his productions like on the track Lights Out featuring Gemma Griffiths or add some jazz elements like on Mwana Iyeyu featuring Holy Ten. So going into this new offering was wondering how is he going to spice up his sound. The ChiHatrick EP is out and today will...

Master H - Dancehall Time EP Review

Image
Master H made a splash beginning of last year with the hit Track Dhanzi and he has not looked back since then. Once he got the attention of many Zimbos, he continued to release big tracks but it was his investment in his live sets that impressed me the most last year. Mainly when many artists get a breakout hit, they put all attention onto creating the next hit and once they have a couple amount of hits and fans now want to experience them live, you will be left disappointed. Master H did not make that mistake and he has been delivering solid performances whenever he was called to showcase and that made his stock grow big. His last project was the Tateguru EP which he released in the last quarter of 2024, the EP performed decently, Pressure featuring Kae Chaps was the biggest track from the project. Last year Master H made sure we do not get starved of music as he released quite frequently.  Less than 6 months one we get a new EP from the guy and whether this new project will surpa...

Best Songs About Harare

Image
Harare is the major cultural, economic, social, financial and political hub of the beautiful teapot country of ours. As someone who has always been in an out (in mostly) of Harare for most of my life, I have over the years fallen in love with the city but I also have to admit it can be a handful. For first time visitors it can get too much, there is a lot of chaos in Harare, its beautiful in its own messed up way. The flashing lights are there, the never-ending parties are there, you get to people spending millions and see cars you only see on TV but there is also a lot of desperation and poverty. Its no surprise that over the years several artists have tried their best to capture the energy of Harare in song. For anyone who has tried to do so, they can agree with me that its no easy feat so artists chose a few specific aspects to showcase at a time. Today will be sharing with you some of the songs that celebrate, warn and paint the picture of Harare the best. So after some time of bro...

Lets Talk About The Mbira for a Minute!!!

Image
When it comes to music the Mbira instrument is one that is distinctively ours. World over the Mbira is synonymous with Zimbabwe. Its ours, we are the ones who know how to make it, how to create those enchanting sounds, whenever one wants a Mbira they have to come to Zimbabwe or find a Zimbabwean near them to get one. Its been used by the various tribes in Zimbabwe for centuries, its an instrument that is closely tied to who we are as a people. The colonizer recognized its importance and made it a priority to demonize it and for the large part he succeeded. The only reason the Mbira endured is because, its inception was not just merely our creativity but it was spiritual. That is why you hear of stories of little kids who from the onset just know how to play the mbira. Its this spiritual connection that the mbira has to one's ancestors which scares many as they have been distanced from their ancestors, so even up to today many shun it saying its too powerful or evil. Funny thing is ...

Winky D - PaBho EP Review

Image
There are certain things one cannot escape as social media user in Zimbabwe such as a Winky D live performance and new release. The Gaffa has a cult following online, there are many who voluntarily do Public Relations for him, many who will fight on his behalf. In social media circles Winky D is sacred.  As the hype for his Mbare show was slowing down Winky and team decided to release this new project; Pabho, and it was also his Birthday. Good strategy from the team. Now as the Pabho hype begins level out the main question that now remains is how good is this new project??!! His last project was the Love Quartet EP , released last year in May and it performed decently, prior to that he had released the Eureka Eureka  album which I did a review of, check my previous posts. These previous two projects are not among his best, yes they came with massive hype ( as always ) on release but all have failed the longevity test, can that change with this new project??? Lets dive de...
