Top 5 Tracks - Andy Brown
On this episode of Top 5 Tracks will be focusing on the late guitarist and singer Andy Brown. Personally I feel Andy was one of the finest guitarist to ever come out of Zim, he had this unique way of playing that was recognizable and you could pick it out on all the tracks he collaborated on. When he passed on he left a gap in the industry which is yet to be filled. He had this soft rock and psychedelic vibe to his music which was refreshing and lovely. His best project was the album; The Passage Of Time.
Andy had a string of beautiful tracks so selecting my top 5 was quite a challenge but i had to do it and below are my top 5 tracks from Andy Brown:
On this track Andy Brown collaborated with South African house outfit Revolution and they gave us this beautiful jam. This track flows beautifully and you can easily get lost in the vibe.
4. Tichangoshaina
On of his most iconic tracks. Its produced beautifully and it sounds good. Love how the vocals of Chiwoniso complements Andy Browns lead vocals. Its a track that resonates with me on many levels.
3. Mawere Kongonya
This track has energy for years, it can rock any party. Its one of those tracks that you cannot just resist when its played, you join in on the dancing.
2. Zindoga
This jam was my top track for years uncontested till i was introduced to the track on number one. Zindoga is such a beautiful jam, the guitar work is superb, the vocals are superb, the theme of the track speaks to me....i jus love everything about this track. There is not much to separate this track with that on number one except my mood on the day of compiling this list, on another day it can easily be on top.
1. Spirit
This track took over from the day i was introduced to it. The guitar solos on this track are sublime, definitely among Andy Brown's finest, maybe only rivalled by his work on Chiwoniso's Tamari. This track Spirit has everything you expect from Andy Brown, solid guitar work, solid vocals, and that unique psychedelic vibe that I love.
