Top 5 Tracks : Maskiri

Alishias "Maskiri" Musimbe is the ultimate bad boy of Zim Music, he is quite the controversial figure but one thing you cannot deny is the talent the artist possesses. His provocative style of rapping earned him a cult following all over Zimbabwe. He made his name with his explicit Blue Movie mixtapes which were heavily pirated despite being released at a period (early 2000's) when the internet was not accessible to the majority of Zimbos. After he had conquered the underground scene he cleaned up his lyrics and he went on to release some radio friendly tracks which got quite a lot of radio airplay.

Maskiri was also embroiled into arguably the biggest beef the local music industry has ever seen between him and Stunner. I however was on the Stunner side but I definitely acknowledged the talent that Maskiri possesses. Today will be compiling my top 5 tracks from the artist.

5. Kuseri Nekuseri
This track was a declaration of Maskiri's prowess, he was showcasing why he was regarded as the finest rapper in the country.

4. Ndakafa
Maskiri's point of view makes you wonder what's going on in his mind and this is one such track that made many Zimbo's ask that question. This track is a testament of Maskiri's wild imagination. Despite the weirdness of the theme this track also showcases Maskiri's unrivaled storytelling skills.

3. Wenera
This is Maskiri's most successful commercial track to date, it got a lot of airplay on radio and was voted the second best track for the year on 2011 only beaten by his biggest rival Stunner with the megahit Godo.

2. Tambudzai
This was one if not the first Maskiri track which got to be played on radio, most of his tracks were deemed not suitable for radio. It's also one of Maskiri's most popular tracks to date. He was at his best at the time this track was released and it shows throughout the track.

1. Madam Mombeshora
This track is taken from Maskiri's most controversial, most popular and critically acclaimed album to date Blue Movie. For many guys there was that one lady teacher whom you had a crush on and always got you daydreaming. Maskiri had a crush on Madam Mombeshora his shona teacher and she got her daydreaming. Madam Mombeshora tragically died in a car accident before Maskiri got to share his feeling with her and do the stuff he wanted to do to her. The storytelling is just superb on this track, Maskiri was at his best. Even though the track was never played on national radio stations because of its explicit content matter it was heavily pirated and is regarded as a classic.

So ya those are my top 5 tracks from Maskiri.

Feel free to comment with your top 5 from Maskiri.
