Artists Who Have Failed To Realize Their Potential

In every music industry there are those artists that come and sweep you away with their talent but for some reason they just fail to realize that talent. Zim is no exception and today will sharing with you such artists from the local scene.

5. Ras Caleb
When he dropped Tokwe Mukosi he revived the reggae genre in Zim, that track was loved by a lot of people and he went on to follow up with some lovely reggae tracks  (Nehanda, Mutoro, Toropito & Mwana Wenyu Uyu) and for some time many believed this guy was the new face of Zim reggae, his vocals and delivery were on point. He however started to try his hand in Dancehall and all started going downhill and now he near being forgotten. Had he kept to the reggae music that made him popular he could have been a much bigger artist.

4. Madiz
This guys made us believe that Rhumba was not dead in Zimbabwe, he had so much energy and whenever he got on the stage you would definitely take notice of him. He got Zimbos dancing with tracks such as Amina, Kazevezeve & Anondispaka then he disappeared. Madiz showcased a lot of energy on his live shows but now all that remains are memories of what he could have achieved.

3. Celscius
Have been a fan of Celscius for some time now and it gives me a headache trying to figure out why he is not among the top class dancehall artist in the country. In terms of vocals abilities he is up there with the finest and the way he complements a riddim is among the best in Zim dancehall but somehow he remains a B level artist. His track Chiedza is a now a classic and one of the best reggae tracks released in recent years, he followed it up with another superb reggae jam Hupenyu which is getting a lot of love from Zimbos. He is one of the few artists who are equally comfortable doing either reggae or dancehall. It may be a matter of time till he breaks into the top tier, maybe he needs better management but for now he has somehow being missing the mark.

2. Tererai Mugwadi
When we talk about songbirds she comes to mind for many of the 90's kids like me. The urban grooves movement days was filled with many talented artists but Terry shined above that sea of talent. Her vocals are so silky and smooth to an irresistible extend. Her track Waenda is now  a classic, just one listen to the song will make you understand why she is included on this list. She did not release many songs on her own but whenever she features she reminds us why we love her so much, tracks such as, Shamwari by Leornard Mapfumo, NaMwari by Maskiri, Kuchamhembe by Yombri..etc. For years have been hoping she would get off drugs and bless us with some more beautiful tracks.

1. Roki
No one can really doubt the Talent of Roki, when he sings you will know he has sung but somehow he is always in the middle of various shenanigans to the extend that he forgets to even release music. He still commands a large cult following but he has disappointing many with his never ending absences. Roki showcased his amazing vocals on the classic Aiyaho and had the whole nation dancing with Chidzoka, he has featured on countless hits over the years but every-time it seems he is now stable something happens and he goes quiet. Roki should by have been by now being mentioned alongside the likes of Jah Prazah and Winky D but haayas. Roki anotopa hasha.

So ya these are the five artists I feel have at this moment failed to reach the potential they showed when they entered the music scene. However there is still hope for these artists to surpass the levels they currently are but as of today, they have failed to do so.

What other artists have failed to reach their potential???
