Track Review: Bryan Kadengu feat Dobba Don - Ndopenga

Bryan Kadengu is one of the most interesting artists that have came out in the past couple of years, his 2015 Nyaya Dzerudo Album is among the best albums from the past 5 years. Last year he released the track Heavy Machine which received a lot of love from the masses and it served as his introduction to the majority of Zimbos. On my review of Heavy Machine, I was afraid Bryan was going to leave his initial afro soul sound to a more popular sound/structure (change is always a hard thing) and its seeming that way with each new track he releases or features in. He went on to feature on Mr Kamera's slow afro beat jam Pamusika and their collaboration continued onto this new jam, to spice up things they included popular dancehall chanter Dobba Don. Today will be sharing my views and thoughts on the track.

Mr Kamera was in charge of the productions and he did a good job. He carried on with the slow and lovely afro beat sound like on Pamusika. The instrumental is chilled, the arrangement is standard and its sounding good. The overall production is done very well, good job by Mr Kamera.

The track is about not giving up despite the challenges and negative energy one gets from those around him/her. It's about defying the odds and realizing the future you want despite the disadvantage(s) you may have that people always point to but trusting in the Lord, working hard and turning a deaf ear to the naysayers till you achieve your goals.

One of the best qualities Bryan has are his superb vocal abilities and on this track he was on point. He delivered quite a passionate performance. Dobba Don delivered his usual signature performance. The collaboration works, was skeptic about it but it works.

In overall this is a nice jam, the production is done very well, the theme is good and performances from both artists is on point. The jam is catchy and it's one of those tracks that will stick inside your head. Now on a more personal note this change in sound a bit painful, judging by how awesome tracks like Marunjeya, Matida, Usasiyane Neni & Nyaya Dzerudo are, this new sound is just inferior, yes it may quickly endear him with the majority of Zimbos but its inferior. One thing that made me a huge Bryan K fan aside from his strong vocals are his guitar playing skills and tracks such as Pamusika and Ndopenga does not give him a proper platform to showcase his guitar skills and that's a major loss for people like me.

What are your thoughts on the track??
