Track Review : Tehn Diamond - 2062
When it comes to teasing and infuriating fans noone does it better that Tehn Diamond. Last year he said his much awaited Perfect Tehn was finished and now 8 months later nothing. Beginning of the year he then said he will release an EP titled a Few Good Poems in the first half of the year then the Perfect Tehn later in the year. We now in the second half of 2016 and as usual no EP yet !!! He then said no more Perfect Tehn, will only be giving you A Few Good Albums album on the 30th of September. It keeps changing with Tehn.
Truthfully the hype has died out as of now, some fans just don't care anymore....to regain people's trust he needs to work extra hard and remind us why we should expect his album again. These past couple of week he has been trying to do exactly that, he released two tracks nearly two weeks ago and now he has released another jam. The first two were okay, (enjoyed Sekele more and that's largely because I loved the original track a lot), the new one on the other hand.....
2062 was produced by Yagi Dojo and he did a great job. The instrumental is so nice. Love the reggae dub intro, the guitar work is well done on this jam. The beat reminds me of this yesteryear track, the name is escaping me now. Regardless Dojo did a great job, am not much into trap instrumentals so when a producer makes an instrumental that is different and sounding this good i'm instantly won over. The overall production is solid, the track is well mastered. Great job on the production.
Few Good Poems is more of a personal diary by Tehn and this track also treads on that route. Tehn is tackling a couple of issues on this track. At one point he is saying "I will not follow the popular trends (in music and culture probably), I will remain me", but at the same time having the same success as those who follow the popular trends. The track is a glimpse into his mind, and he masked his thoughts and feelings in a galactic, sci-fi themed kind of layout. Its a big task understanding the whole track without Tehn himself explaining it....this is a track only a few will be able to comprehend
Tehn was awesome on the verses and chorus, he gave his signature perfomance on the track. Tehn was being accused of changing his sound and losing his touch and on this track he is answering those accusations and critics both with the lyrics and a superb performance to back it up. Great job.
In overall this is a solid track. Its a personal escapade for Tehn which he allowed his fans to join. Its not a track a lot of people will be singing along to, except the few in the same mindset and situation as Tehn. I love this jam though, it's well made, sando kuna Yagi Dojo and Tehn was also awesome on the vocals. Two more tracks like this one and Tehn will regain my trust, the countdown to his album will then resume.
What are your thoughts on the track??
