10 Projects Am Looking Forward To in 2021

Image
So as is now tradition at the beginning of each year I share with you the projects I will be looking forward to the most in that year. This year is no exception and on this article will be sharing with you those projects.  1 Tamy Moyo - Bvudzi Jena The Phase Tamy has been promising us this project for some time now, last year she blessed us with the beautiful Kuteera feat Jah Prayzah and also featured on a number of solid tracks. Only thing that was missing last year was a long body of work and we'll be getting that this year. She has already solidified her position as the Queen of pop and this album will probably further atest to that. Definitely looking forward to it.  2 Nutty O - Unnamed  Nutty O has a fabulous 2020, he is now coming into his own, everything he is touching is becoming a hit so you can get why this upcoming album is top of my list. Also rumours of big collaborations on the album have been flying all over making me wait for the album way way more....

Janet Manyowa Sounds Of Victory EP Review

Image
Janet has been on the up trajectory since the moment she entered the music scene. She has opened and pushed gospel music into a different dimension. She is proving gospel music doesn't have to sound the same as the older classic tracks but can be modern, with lots of swag and still be as powerful.  She has more chart topping hits and awards than any other gospel artist since she entered the music scene. This is both a testament to her immense talent and also one super solid and innovative team that is behind her fronted by her husband. That team is special and daring, they have pushed Janet Manyowa the brand in ways that many artists only dream off, she is selling out venues, getting lots of streams, topping charts on a regular basis. Previously to sell of venues gospel artists had to team up but Janet alone can attract the similar amount of people as compared to big secular artists... That is significant.  Was fortunate and honoured to have been invited to the launch of ...

Proud Zimbo Music Awards 2020

Image
So at the end of year I usually gave my top projects of that year, be it top 5 or top 10. For 2020 decided to take it up a notch and do the first ever Proud Zimbo Music Awards.  Decided to make them a small online event. So for a start could not award too many categories, I decided on just 6: Newcomer of the year, Collaboration of the year, Female artist of the year, Male artist of the year, Album/Project of the year and lastly Song of the year.  So I teamed up with a friend and colleague who does not want to be named yet and each compiled a list of their own and then we combined the two lists. It was quite an interesting task and after some months of listening and going back and forth on tracks, this is what we ended up with.. 1. Newcomer of the year: Anita Jaxson Holy Ten Feli Nandi Winner : Holy Ten 2.  Best Collaboration: Tamy Moyo - Kuteera (feat Jah Prayzah)  Trevor D - Mufudzi Wemombe (feat Feli Nandi)  Asaph - Aspheli Moya (feat MsizKay)  Novi Keys ...

Mark Ngwazi & Njanja Express - Chamugwegwedu Chamatindike Album Review

Image
Over the past couple of years Sungura has been making some serious strides despite many still believing the genre is finished. The competition in the genre has reached some insane levels and the quality has greatly improved, once you get a taste of it you will soon find yourself going on a rabbit hole of Sungura goodness  Among those excelling from the new crop is Mark Ngwazi and his band the Njanja Express. He has over the years won over many listeners and this year he seems to have taken it to new heights. Have been listening to this project for some weeks now and decided to share my thoughts and views on the album with you.  As usual will be doing a track by track review.  1 Chamugwegwedu Chamatindike  The title track is on powerful track on which Mark is asking the Lord for a covering as it seems the turn of bad luck is now upon him, there are many who are plotting and making curses to harm him. The production is well done, the arrangement is spot on both th...
