The Most Viewed Zimbabwean Music Videos On YouTube (16/02/2019)

In the past week two of Zimbabwe's biggest artists at the current moment Winky D & Jah Prayzah all released videos. Both videos went on to break the record for the most views by a local song in the first 24hrs since its upload on YouTube. The fans of the artists were taking jabs at each other on social media trying to prove their fav is the best and most popular, the artists however do not appear to be competing but are supporting each other and basking in the successes of both tracks. How good and entertaining the videos are is another issue which can be dealt with when the hype normalizes, at the moment its the race to a million views.

This got me all thinking as which video by a local artist has the most views on YouTube. I got down to doing my research and below are the top 25 most viewed videos by a Zimbabwean artist's on YouTube.
"Disclaimer: this list doesn't necessarily prove who is the best but rather who is the most popular. An artist can be popular for other reasons other than his/her art and that popularity can translate into millions of views. Also its only a lesser portion of Zimbabweans that are online, so the views are a reflection of the preferences for the few who have the ability and means to go online. Because of that an artist may have over 2mil views but fail to attract 1000 people to their show but someone who is low or not even on this list can attract 10k plus fans to their show."  

With that out of the way lets see who are the most popular Zimbabwean music videos on YouTube as of the time of publishing this article.

So ya those are the top 25 most viewed Zim music videos on YouTube as of the moment of publication. It's very clear that Jah Prayzah dominates this list, appearing 13 out of 25 times, meaning he is the most popular and go to artist if you want your video to get massive views. Ammara Brown is the most popular female artist and also is the second most popular with 4 appearances.

    Exq tsvigiri, juntal mutupo, etcthose have potential shocked mdara dziva havapo, goes to support your earlier assertion tht these views may reflect the wishes of those fans online, overally jah seems to be doing good, he invests in videos and his music.

Album Review: Asaph - Kingsvilla 2

Zim Hip Hop is a polarizing genre, it has its few loyal fans then for others its nearly non existent. For me most of the tracks are generic and they don't do it for me that much but now and then there comes an artist that just wows me and restores my hope in local hip hop. Asaph is one such artist, he announced his arrival with the Kingsvilla Album last year and got some heads turning. He then went on to release the follow up Kingsvilla2 and this time I decided to give myself a chance to listen to the album.
