Tamy - Tekere
Been a fan of Tamy since she released her debut album The 18th Rollercoaster, have been rooting for her since then. At the beginning of each year I publish the artists I feel music fans should look out for and included Tamy on the lists for the past two years. I'm glad to say she is now staring to fulfill the potential I was seeing in her.
When I listened to her debut album I knew if she kept pushing she was going to be a big star, however felt she was gonna remain in the sort of afro fusion kind of vibe and be a Zim equivalent of SA starts such as Zahara, Berita or Lira, I was wrong!!! In my defense given the sound on her debut album you can forgive me. Since then she has been experimenting with her sound and style, she has been embracing the changes in her life as she is maturing into a woman and also embracing her sexual side something you can clearly see in her current visuals.
Tamy has had quite a successful 2018, her track Lay It Down featuring Nutty O has been received well by her fans and she also blessed us with some lovely visuals for the track. She has now released another song; Tekere and that the track we'll be talking about today.
Now in terms of the audio, this is quite a good jam, with a lovely old skool feel. Well she even say so in the intro "so, this one is for those who wanna kick it off old skool" The production is done well, the producer did a good job capturing the old skool vibe, love the bouncy bass.
Tamy was at par on the vocals, she is improving quite a lot when it comes to vocal control. She delivered a solid performance, love how she is comfortable with her voice now, she showcases that throughout the track and I love it.
Now to the visuals. The video is very colourful and is a fusion/cocktail of various styles by other international female stars. The are some Beyonce influences, some Arian Grande influences and loads of Nicki Minaj sexy doll like actions. She is not as natural as she was on Lay It Down. The visuals also makes use of Tamy's features and we are well witnessing her evolving into a sex symbol.
The visuals does not offer anything unique, if you watch a lot of Trace Music Channels this will feel like a number of videos you have seen already. Only thing it signals is that Tamy is pushing to be the best pop artist in the country and has the funds and guts to achieve the top spot. However the her Beautiful Ndozvandiri visuals remain her best and most creative visuals to date.
Watch Tekere:
So ya that is it for Tekere, its a lovely song with some generic visuals. Regardless of that I feel she is the best female pop artist we have in the country, her vocals are superb, her songwriting is well done and she has a good eye for catching visuals.
What are your thoughts on the audio and visuals??
