Track Review : Lincoln The Prez - Hande

Got to know about Lincoln the Prez when he featured on Verseless's Home EP on the title track Home (EP Review: Verseless Home EP). He gave a great performance on that track and when he hit me up with a new jam I was willing to take a listen and see what he had in store for us. So lets see how the track fares.

They went for an old skool kind of format on this track. More like the gangsta rap from the Nas era, the instrumental does not change, they created a nice 4 or 8 bar arrangement and then looped it till the end with minor sounds introduced to accentuate the track. It a hustle track as Lincoln said himself and such an instrumental is perferct becasue it does not take away the attention from the lyrics. The overall production is quite standard, they did a commendable job on that.

Hande is about the hustle. It depicts the day to day hustles Lincoln faces in order to make ends meet. The inner force that pushes him to keep on hustling. Many people will relate to him on this one, getting in instances where you spend cash that is not yours or borrow cash to cover some gaps and end up changing the road you use so as not to run into the person who you now owe cash.  The lyrics are quite nice that is if you manage to get them.

Lincoln was in beast mode here, he was moving so fast that it took me a number of listens to fully understand what he was saying. Loved his style though, its quite different from the mumble and slow raps that we're used to. His storytelling abilities are quite amazing. Its more like he was reciting a poem on this track. The chorus is simple and on point. Great performance again

In overall this is a nice track, its for those who love to listen to music and not those who are in search of fly instrumentals. I enjoyed the jam and will be looking forward to other releases from him.

What are your thoughts on the track ??
