Gemma Griffiths Pamwe EP Review

Gemma has had quite an interesting journey. She has come far from the Musarove Big man cover days into being a respected vocalist all over Zim. She is a testament of where the right collaborations will take you, most know her from MuGarden the track that catapulted her to the top and earned her the female Artist of the year nomination.

Since then she has embraced working with a lot of local artists, it has sort of become her brand and she is excelling at that. This year she has featured on quite a number of projects and has also delivered her own tracks. One of her big tracks is Tirangarirei a track she showed she can also do dancehall music. The next single was the super lovely Ndinewe which is part of this EP. Just as her various collaborations were gaining traction she then released her EP, got my copy and today will be sharing with you my views and thoughts.

As usual will be doing a track by track review.

1 Only You
This first track sets the tone perfectly, this sound that Gemma is pushing is beautiful. Love the arrangement of the track, both the vocals and instruments. Overall production is solid. On the track Gemma is saying I don't want anyone else but Only You, I am lost on you.

2 Easy
Gemma is saying our love is easy, when you're crazy in love, loving your partner is soo easy. Production is well done, the arrangement is also good. Gemma delivered her signature performance on the track.

3 +263 (feat Nutty O & Asaph)
The lineup on this track had me amped before I even listened to the track, Nutty O & Asaph have been in red hot form this year and they continued in that form on this track. All three artists are having a solid year and it shows, they all brought their unique styles which blended well. It's a lively feel good jam, production is done well, arrangement is good. Track also came with some lovely visuals. It's quite infectious, you will be singing along in no time.

4 Iwe
This track feels like an extension to Easy, the arrangement of both the vocals and instrumental feel similar to Easy. I however love this one more, its more lively, the bass is more vibrant, the overall guitar work is on point. On the track Gemma is saying all I need is you, Iwe

5 Ndinewe
This was the first track released from this project. Its a lovely jam, it grew on me more and more as I listened. The production and arrangement is all well done.

So ya that's it for this EP, its quite a beautiful project to listen to.

Production is solid throughout. The project has a feel good vibe that starts with the first track and continues to the last one. Three tracks on the album; Only You, Easy & Iwe sound like one track cut into three album with  different variations. The other two tracks Ndinewe & 263 have a familiar feel but they don't feel like a continuation as the 3 above-mentioned tracks do. Gemma was definitely testing her new sound on this EP, that's what EP's are for.

On the EP Gemma is singing about love, I don't know if the project was inspired by someone who was/is making her crazy in love. The whole project is Gemma saying how she feels about her other half. Those three tracks that feel like one continous track all in summary are about reassuring your partner that they are the only one. On Ndinewe she was saying I will be yours till the end and on 263 they were talking about the joy one has after receiving a call from their other half.

Vocally Gemma was good throughout. On Ndinewe itwas hard for me to hear what she was saying, track was sounding sounding good but couldn't follow what she was saying. As I listened more I adjusted and could now understand her more. Asaph and Nutty O delivered solid performances, love the Asaph verse more. Also love how they sang in all the major languages (Shona, Ndebele & English) on 263.

To conclude this is a lovely and refreshing project from Gemma. If you looking for something different and refreshing this project is definitely for you.

My overall rating: 7/10

Feel free to share your thoughts on the project.
