Top 5 Tracks: System Tazvida & The Chazezesa Challengers

On this episode of Top 5 Tracks we go the king of Bhawa music: Fanuel Nyasha Tazvida popularly known as System Tazvida. He formed his Chazesesa Challengers or also known as Boys DzeSmoko in 1993 and he went on to release a string of hits. He was one of the top artists in the 90's. His music has this care free attitude, the way he sang and pronounced words had this laid back care free vibe to it which also made it perfect for bars especially at growth points. System tackled social topics that others may view as controversial or taboo and that endeared him with a lot of party goers. Its more like he sang using slang, his music does not sound as censored as many others, it was also not as polished which gave it this raw feel that adds to the care-free vibe. As a 90's kid who grew up close to a growth point System was one of the artists you would hear every-time you wet to the shops. This top 5 has been made easy because despite him having quite a big discography the cream de la cream of his discography is mainly included on the albums Collection and Hits.

So below will be sharing with you my top 5 from the King of Bhawa Music.

5. Baba Munini
This track talks about the issue of relatives who after the death of ones parents they just come and loot everything without giving a thought to you the orphaned kids. It talks against the greedy and selfish nature of some of our relatives, those who want to reap where they did not sow without regarding the feelings of others.

4. Musandishore Pakuroora
This is the ultimate bachelors theme song, when the family and friends keep asking why you are not yet married you can start playing or singing this song to them. The track highlights that it is not easy finding the right person to marry, there are many ladies for the party and clubbing but very few a suitable for marriage.

3. Anodyiwa Haataure
This is a bhawa anthem, its about spending money with the ladies vemafaro. For a number of people they have failed to built anything meaningful in their lives because they spend all the money at the bars, spending cash on ladies and beer.

2. Dai Hanzvadzi Yairoorwa
Everyone desires a down to earth, well mannered and respectful wife and in this instance System has married someone who is the opposite of that. He wanted a wife who has manners like those of his sister's, one who is cultured and knows how to act and when to act and not the one he has who disrespects his parents and is always causing havoc.

1. Mushandi Ndimambo
My favourite track from System talks about the plight of employees, advocating that they should be treated with respect ad their dues paid to them in time and in full. The interesting thing about this track is the perspective he took, he was once a foreman at a farm ans he used to abuse and take advantage of the employees below him but now he has lost his job and now understands the importance of treating an employee well. The choice of words and structure is done very well and all make the track worthwhile.

So ya after a week of serious listening to System Tazvida that is the top 5 I came up with, but this was not an easy task because a number of tracks could get into that top 5 on another day and there lemme give some honourable Mentions:

  • Smoko
  • Vanotipedzera Mashoko
  • Ndiridze Mhere
  • Wakazvikanyira Wega
  • Babe Rakanaka

Feel free to share your top 5 down below.
