Album Review: Jah Prayzah - Kutonga Kwaro

Image
This album is Jah's  key to continental domination, he is finally in a sweet spot whereby everything is going according to plan; he finally has the resources to produce the best quality music, he has a good reputation  which makes him able to collaborate with whoever he desires on the African continent. If he does this correctly he will definitely be counted among the best artists on the continent. Reviewed his past two albums; my favourite from him Jerusarema ( Jerusarama Album Review ) and last years Mdara Vachauya ( Mdara Vachauya Album Review ). Without wasting much of your time, have been listening to the album this whole week and will be sharing my views and thoughts below: The album contains 14 track and will be doing a track by track review as usual; 1. Kutonga Kwaro The intro track which is also the title track welcomes us with some lovely guitar work. The production is done very well, the track also introduces us to this new updated Jah Prayzah sound that...

Album Review: Soul Jah Love - Ndofirapo

Image
Am not your usual music critic, that guy has taken a step back for this one and i'm in charge, may as well be better than him but semunhu ari humble lemme not brag....am now part of the Proud Zimbo,  in fact when I think about it I was already a part of PZ but preferred to be more silent but now am also getting my hands dirty so we'll be meeting quite a lot on this blog. You can call me Misfit ....so lets get to the main event: Soul Jah love is one of the best Zim dancehall artists and has been consistent with his hits. His kind of delivery is popular with the masses and his ability to make a hit track out of nothing is second to none. Soulja love has already given us hits like Pamamonya Ipapo and Zvinhu and now he is here with a full project called Ndofirapo. Albums have never been his stronghold but that is not stopping him from trying, regardless today we'll be sharing my views on the album The opening track is a catchy Ndofirapo   produced by sunshine famil...

Album Review : Stunner - Stray Bullet

Image
Stunner is an urban icon, regardless whether you like the guy or not he has played an instrumental role in taking urban local music to where it is now. Stunner came onto the hip hop scene with all guns blazing and changed the local rap scene.  He is also responsible for arguably the biggest and most popular hip hop track in local rap history; Godo feat Ba Shupi. After Godo the music side of Stunner took a major dip and he has failed to ignite the same magic that he once possessed but regardless of that his masterfully cultivated controversial personality and image has ensured he remains relevant. He is probably the only hip hop guy who can sing about anything and get away with it, he has earned himself a cult following of people who love him for him regardless of whether he releases tracks or not. Moreover because of that he can afford to be as playful as he wants and such playfulness is  evident as you listen to the album. His last album If I Die Tonight was a commendable ...

Artists That Entered The Scene With Style, Boldness & Impact

Image
Once in a while we witness an artists who enters the music industry with so much confidence and style that you cannot help it but give them the attention they require. Some will challenge the status quo and some will break existing records whilst announcing their arrival is superb style. Zimbabwe has had a fair share of such artists and in particular order will be sharing with you my picks for the artists that entered the scene with panache. 1. Leonard Karikoga Zhakata Today he is regarded as the  best lyricist to emerge from Zimbabwe and that owes a lot to his brilliant and politically charged 1994 debut album Maruva Enyika. The album sold more than 100 000 copies which was unheard of for someone of his age (26). The album up to today remains one of the finest album ever released in the country. 2. Alick Macheso Ba Sharo broke and set a highest selling record with his debut album Simbaradzo, the album sold more that 500 000 units and set the record which still stands to...

Album Review: Few Kings - The Feeling A'int Fear 2

Image
Few Kings (Take Fizzo, Jnr Brown & Tehn Diamond) made a solid name for themselves in 2013 when they released their debut album The Feeling A'int Fair, which was received very well by a lot of Zimbos and they went on to win Hip Hop Album of the year. After that the lads decided to take a break and work on their solo projects a decision that later proved not to be the best of ideas. Before we get to the review lemme give you a summary rundown of what has happened in the past 4 years as these guys embarked on their solo runs: Take Fizzo was in the headlines a number of months back when he was battling his drug addiction and he then decided to turn to gospel music, which he produced for some months then he went quiet again before making a comeback this year and he is back to those genres that made him an iconic producer. He has been gaining some mileage in 2017 with some very good productions, the rise of Tulk Munny for example is a testament of Take Fizzo's growing influe...
