Video & TrackReview: Takura - Zino Irema

Takura the other half of Soul Afrika is about to drop a solo project and he is hyping his upcoming project very well. This new track serves as an excellent insight in terms of what to expect from his upcoming project.

Zino Irema was released beginning of the month, heard the track on ZiFm Stereo and liked the track but it did not really get my attention. Am sort of fed up with trap music, so sometimes I will quickly move on without giving that track enough attention, except when i'm in a party mood. Despite the track getting a lot of love on radio it had not won me over....then the visuals dropped !!! and everything changed.

Videos are a great way to reach a wider audience and certain local artists are finally getting or coming to terms with that principle. Takura is definitely one artist who has grasped that principle. The visuals for Zino Irema are excellent. I love it when artists use the countries natural features, buildings and streets to their advantage. We have many artists who go to neighboring countries just to make a video whilst they can do the same here with less hustle. Also music videos are a great way to market our nation to the world, so this is a huge plus for Takura.

The video is of great quality and the directing has been done very well. Andy Cutta is definitely one of the best video producers and directors we have right now. The track is about those people who pretend to be your friends but are plotting your downfall behind your back. Those people who take advantage of your trust and betray you. The video tried most to show the "Ndikukuonai zvangu " statement with the setting of the girlfriend pretending to be busy whilst he entertains other guys.

Takura gave a great performance on this track, despite what people say hip hop is better when it done in the mother tongue. Stunner once said Zim Hip Hop will be controlled by a vernacular rapper and many artists attacked him but he was true...Its just much more entertaining when done in the mother tongue. Takura has now entered the hip hop scene and will now be vying for the hip hop throne, this track also serves as a declaration of what's to come. Interesting times ahead.

In overall the video is entertaining and it will go a long way introducing the track to the masses who had not heard it before. The track is also well made and sounding pretty good. It has got me interested in his upcoming project.

What are your thoughts on the track and video??
